Approved to rescue!

The house is empty without our Chances Hound. Stella is pining. After some serious soul-searching and looking around online we decided to adopt another Australian Shepherd, since the hole in our house is Aussie-shaped.

We applied for approval with an Aussie rescue. After an extensive application process, a long talk with the foster mom, and a home visit during which I got to meet some delightful Aussies, we were approved to adopt through their rescue program.

I. Am. EXCITED!

The dog that we’re interested in is a male, a red double merle, a year and a half old, and an absolute dollface. He’s 5 hours away. Looks like road trip time in the PK household:)

I know that there can never be another Chances. But it would be nice to do some obedience classes and maybe get our Therapy Dog Certification. My mom used to light up whenever the therapy dogs made their rounds at the hospital. I’d like to help other people feel like that.

Wish us luck:) Hopefully soon  we’ll be posting pics of our new family member and updates on our training. Goodness knows this house could use a little sunshine.

Keep it shiny side up, OD peoples. Peace out.

Oh that’s GREAT sweetie! I know you can’t replace the hole in your heart that he left, but you can certainly adopt another and give him the love that you miss giving to dear ole Chance. I have been in your place; getting another fur kid helps the grieving process so very much. I’m so happy you are doing this!!! “SQUEE!!!!!”
