I suppose Marty’s on the other side of the world! No wonder he’s calling at such an
un-gawdly hour.

"I wonder, how does one reconcile the desirability of living in the moment (which I think has great merit) with the urgent necessity of forward thinking on a global scale to correct past behaviours?"

In response, though it’s not recommended for me to regurgitate my Guru’s knowledge as it can be easily misconstrued, the answer can be put somewhat like this. Sri Sri would say that your life will always go by in present moments, and in these moments your intellect is active, your ego is active, your mind is active, your body is active, and so is your memory. Unless all of these activities within you are in harmony with truth, and function with love, your efforts will not be fully constructive. Your life will come into harmony in the purest truth with the present moment. "Living in the moment" means to accept that your life is always occurring at an ever changing pin-point in time. The past and the future are both recollections or projections developed respectively within the mind, but they are not the full truth. There is no denying "cause and effect" phenomenon. Burning of greenhouse
gasses is cause from the past, and the forecasted effect is potential flooding and irreversible climate change. Of course this needs to be accepted, but how can we, as a race, cooperate most effectively if we are not settled internally.

The philosophy behind living in the moment is that when you act, you act fully in the present, and with your entire being (ego, mind, self, intellect, body, etc) in awareness. Being in the moment does not mean you blind yourself from what the effects will be of your causality (forward thinking), it just means that, at any given moment, you are 100% present in your action, 100% in your awareness, and 100% constructive as you can be in your environment. Only in the present moment may our true awareness come into full focus.

After hurricane Katrina, Sri Sri’s key message was: "Until the trauma is released, food and medicines won’t work"

He said this because people were so focussed on the past that they were continuing to stifle their mental, emotional and physical healing in the present. I often wonder if accepting such a philosophy and surrendering to the present moment makes me at all selfish among such global turmoil (obviously not everybody lives by this philosophy!). Then I remember that the best way to raise awareness is to lead by example. Meeting someone with a low carbon-footprint carrying a big smile on their face while radiating love from their heart is an effective
way to start a trend ;o)

You really should give yourself the gift of taking the course. I met someone last summer who used to be very sick with MS, and after learning the knowledge and breathing practices she was relieved of her symptoms, she was so strong! Although, I was slightly wrong about the Ashram dates, if you were still interested. Sri Sri will be there on Saturday and stay until the 22nd of July. So if you think you can make it up there for a few days, it’s certainly a beautiful opportunity! I’m checking to see if phase 1 courses are offered later (14th to 18th perhaps).

Anyhow, today I’m working on a report proposal to improve the EAC Solar Collection system!

love Phil
