Writing, writing and then some more writing…

Sorry for the absence from Open Diary but for reasons that I really can’t get into at this point, I’ve been working furiously on the novel and getting it ready for something. I’ve spend the last several days reworking paragraphs, pages and even whole chapters to make sure they’re just right.

For the first time last week, I gave people access to my work. For the first time, I gave someone access to the entire novel and people have had a chance to read it from start to finish. To say I was nervous about what kind of feedback I would get was a complete understatement.

The good news is feedback has been very positive so far. I actually suspected one of them not to like the book based on its subject but that person came back with the highest praise for it. Go figure…

Speaking of writing, I have decided to again participate in the National Novel Writing Month event for the second year in a row. Like last year, I’ll be writing 50,000 words in 30 days. It worked so well for me last year that I definitely want to do it again this November. Between reworking chapters, I’ve already come up with a premise that I think is while not as contrversal as the last novel is just as killer.

Just to tease you guys with what I’ve got cooking, here is a picture of a novel that I am reading. It’s research for the premise I’m working on and I’ve been reading it intensely since I got it from the library last week:

You can take a guess what the next novel will be about, but I can’t say if your right or wrong. I’m still thinking about the main plot right now and tinkering with the idea of where I would want a book like this to go… but the premise is looking good so far. I have three other books on this subject reserved for further research. Like the book I just finished, I want to make sure I’m on the mark with my ideas and where they go.

So I’ve been absent from here because I’ve been doing a lot of writing and reading. Chances are I will be for the rest of the week and I won’t be back online with OD until Saturday or Sunday. Until then, take care and have a great week!

RYN: A-Rod may opt out because he wants 30 million, yet will take a pay cut for Sweet Lou? Let me point out again, 1996-2001 was accomplished without a-rod or giambi. In just about every year during that time, 4-5 players had over 100 RBI’s, and no hitter led the league in more than 1 category, if any! Consider also that a new team has won the WS every year since 2000, without A-rod. Look at the Rockies, or every team that made it to the playoff this year. You can dominate individually, but 90% of the time it means nothing but a bigger paycheck. The opt-out for 10 days after the WS should have been conditional on them making it in the first place. They should just do it now. I can’t wait for him to leave, I’m so excited!

I’m positively tickled by the thought of what you could be writing about. I’m assuming it’s a fiction set in the modern real world.
