Unfortunate distraction…

So far today, I haven’t been able to do any novel writing despite having the day off. I went to the grocery store to pick up some milk and diapers, and got hurt. I was crossing the road and halfway across my leg popped. I wasn’t doing anything more than what one would consider a light jog, but I felt a tear and a pop in the middle of my right calf and have been hobbling ever since. Afraid it might be something really bad, I was order by Nurse Mom to go to emerg and get it checked out. She was afraid it was my achiles tendon, so I followed orders and went to emerg.

I didn’t wait long at all, no more than a half hour and I was in to see a doctor. After taking a look at my leg, he concluded that the tendon was fine and that I suffered a nasty tear of that massive muscle on the inner part of my calf. It hurts like a bugger and I can’t put any pressure on it without pain. Even when I’m lying down, there’s still a dull ache. The doctor said that I’ll have to stay off it as much as I can and just rest till it gets better. I can still work, cause I just sit and take calls all day, but I’ll have to take the bus to work instead of my usual walk.

I’ve also got a new set of crutches to boot, and I’ll have to use them to prevent putting pressure on my calf. Should make for an interesting week, at work and home. I feel bad that I can’t help out as much as I want to with leah and the kids. It’s not like I did this on purpose, but I still feel bad none the less. So I’m going to use this time to maybe do a little reading and some writing when I can find the time. Until then everyone have a good day and I’ll try to be around…
