Two days away!
Exactly two days from now I’ll be in Toronto, on another set. This time for an independent feature length film. The role I have isn’t earth shattering, but has a good chunk of decent lines. He has a pretty good scene that is likely going to take a good chunk of that day to shoot with the principal character of the film. He spends the scene showing the main character around what will be his new life that he starts halfway through the film. I play the new boss of his new life, showing him around the place and eventually to his new desk. Will make for an interesting day.
I’m likely going to spend the majority of the next day or so going over my lines and working on tone and how I want to approach the scene. I won’t know how to act out the scene physically until I see the set with my own eyes, which won’t happen until the very last second. Unfortunate, but that happens. As much as I would love to do a read through with the other actors and the director before hand, I don’t think I’ll get the luxary either since they are shooting other scenes all week, so no dice there as well. I don’t mind doing this, we’ll have the day to get it right and I got a good feel for what the director is looking for. I think the director knows this too based on the fact that he hasn’t felt the need to prep me very much for this shoot. Cool part is I’m not going to have to invest anything into this endevor. Trasnport and expenses are covered by the production… so all I gotta do is show up, and remember my lines.
The cool part is the exposure I could get from this kind of project. I got a lot of call backs just from being the lead in a short film. Imagine the kind of work I’ll get calls from for being in an independent film? I’m hoping that will open the door to a lot more stuff in the future, much bigger stuff too! So here’s hoping this is the start of other stuff. But for now I’ll work on what I have now and move on from there.
But for now I have lines to work on. I’m due on the set in two days. I hope everyone else is having a good week, and I’ll be around with more updates as they come in. Until then, take care…
Peter
