Time to start packing…

I just got back from the federal building after picking up some new passports. Both Ethan and I had to get a new passport because both of ours expired last year, and we needed to get a new one thanks to King George’s new border laws. In two days I’ll be crossing the border and taking a trip to music city: Nashville, Tennessee. My parents have been residing there since 1997, and Leah and I will be traveling there with the kids for 12 days. It’s very warm down there right now, so it will make for a very bitchin’ vacation.

I know Leah has been looking forward to this for a long, long time. She hasn’t had many days off and of us all deserves this break more than anyone else. I hope she really takes advantage of it and has a really good time. We have some special things planned for her and the kids, like maybe going back to the zoo, to a dinosaur exhibit which which know Ethan will love cause he’s in an animal/Dinosaur phase right about now. So we’ve got some big and small things planned for those twelve days, and I’ll have decent access to the internet, and I’ll post some entries and some occassional picture posts to let people know how we’re doing.

I’ve been working on a list of some stuff I’d like to do when I’m down there and I’ve come up with the following:

1) Take the kids to the Dinosaur exhibit

2) Watch the Euro ’08 final on my Dad’s massive 60′ big screen (Go Russia!)

3) Attend a Democractic rally (if I’m lucky enough to find one)

4) Get a decent tan with out turning into a red lobster.

5) Buy some funky groceries I can’t get up here, like weird cereals and snacks.

6) Eat a Hardee’s Monster Thick Burger.

7) Hit the Loveless Cafe (just outside Nashville) and try Carol Fay’s popular biscuits with homemade preserves.

8) Hit some nice shops and see if I can find something nice for my next Anniversary.

9) Hit a Kareoke Bar

10) Take things easy and just have a good time.

If I manage to do just half the stuff on this list, the trip will be in my opinion a glorious success! Anything else will be gravy as far as I’m concerned, and I don’t judge a trip based on what we did but if we managed to get a breather and if we managed to get away and unwind. If we didn’t manage to do that, what we did or come home with doesn’t matter much then, now does it?

So that’s the plan, we’ll see how it all turns out. Our flight leaves Saturday morning, and we start packing tonight. Everyone is excited and rightly so. Should be a lot of fun. I’ll be back to post more about that later, but until then take care and I’ll be around!

No Opry Land? Have a good, safe trip.

LF: Believe it or not, there is no Opry Land. It was torn down five years ago and now in it’s place is a massive mall beside the opry motel. I’ve never been to the mall yet, but I plan to go this time. I heard it’s enormous… and connects to the orpy. I went to Opry Land once when I was very young. It’s a shame I can’t take my kids to it but these things happen. Oh well.

RYN: Wow! I didn’t know that. We lived in Tennessee when it first opened and, of course, visited it.
