Things getting back to normal…

Yesterday was my first day back to work, and I have to say it went better than I expected it to. I spent most of the day just y-connecting, whcih means just listening to other people take calls and ease back into things. I think they would have let me do that for a while, but I found it to be completely unnecessary. After my last break, I asked to go back online and did just fine. I took calls with the same blazing fast speeds that I did before I left and never really skipped a beat here. After the shift was over, I felt good enough to do some extra time… so I clocked a little OT. I didn’t push my luck so I only did a little over three hours of extra time and went home for the night. It was a decent day at the center and nothing earth shattering happened. Was just a simple run of the mill day and that was all right. It was nice to see friends that I hadn’t seen in a while, and a lot of them were happy to see me again so it was in part good to be back. While a part of me still wanted to be home with the boys, they are the reason why I clock in everyday. I want the money to make the movie, buy a crapload of Xmas gifts and do other cool stuff… and this is the best way to accomplish that.

When I got home that night, I was there just in time to give Jonathan his last feeding of the night and sniggle him to sleep. Then I carted him off to his crib and tucked him in before coming back out and watching television with Leah. We caught a new episode of “Criminal Minds” and in their second season… that show is getting really good. This is slowly growing into one of the best ensamble shows on television today, and I recommend those who have not seen it to give it a peek, especially if you are one of those people who are into those profiler/killer kind of non-fiction books. While there were other shows I wanted to watch, I went to bed early and let the DVR record anything else I wanted to watch that night. That’s the coolest thing about working OT at the center, being that I don’t have to worry about missing my favorite shows. I just let the DVR record them and I’ll watch them later when I have more time to sit down and relax and not waste time that could be used to make money or sleep.

For example, tonight when I get home… chances are I’ll want to crash early so I’ll let the DVR record tonight’s new episodes of CSI and Shark. I love these shows, but I also love my sleep so I’ll record them and get back to them later. I also have about a dozen episodes of Wonder Pets, Blue’s Cluse and Go Diego Go on the DVR as well for Ethan and Jonathan to watch anytime they want or anytime I want to do something around the house and not worry about what they’re doing. One show Leah and I can’t get enough of is House, which has been rather exciting to watch this year, but Leah’s upset cause it’s now postponed till after the baseball playoffs. I’m not too upset, September sweeps are over so all we would have missed are reruns, nothing more. I am eager to watch the playoffs, and more eager to see which teams give the Yankees and Cardinals a well deserved early exit. Personally, I think it’s going to be a Minnesota/San Diego world series, with the Twins winning it all this year. You heard it here first…

So things are going well here on the island and are getting back to normal. I hope everyone else is doing all right and if things are slow at the center, I’ll do what I can do read up on the favorites and leave a lot of notes. Until then, everyone take care and have a good Thursday!

Peter
