The Newsroom

After waiting with great aniticipation, I finally I got to see the new Aaron Sorkin drama on HBO, titled ‘The Newsroom’. It’s a story about a popular news anchor who gets himself into a little trouble by using something that a lot of people in the media try to stay away from: the brutal truth.

Like what the West Wing did for the Whitehouse, The Newsroom is giving us a idea of what it would be like to see a newsroom that hasn’t sold out and was willing to step up and tell things the way they are rather than tow the party line.

It reminded me a lot of the pilot episode for the West Wing and that was a good thing. I miss that show a great deal, and this episode seemed to fill that void. I’m dying to see more, and Sam Waterson droping the f bomb anytime he wants is very cool too!

Mr. Sorkin has another winner on his hands, and I like the idea of using real news stories (such as the BP oil spill) rather than just making up new to preach moral issues.

If you liked watching Sorkin’s past television efforts, give ‘The Newsroom’ a chance, I think you’ll like it.

Oh good! I haven’t gotten around to it yet – I have so much TV to catch up on – but this one is on my list of things to watch!
