The Lockout is over. So f**king what?
Lets start off with the obvious: am I happy to see this NHL lockout finally come to an end?
Yes, very much so.
Will I support the NHL whenever it decides to return?
Absolutely not.
Allow me make myself perfectly clear: if the NHL thinks that Im going to forget the last several months of bullshit, they are sadly mistaken. I have zero intention of buying a single ticket, a single jersey or anything for that matter in foreseeable future. The NHL and the NHLPA may have finally able to settle their differences but Im locking them out of my heart and my wallet. I refuse to support the NHL after forcing the fans to endure another long, heart breaking lockout.
When my son has a temper tantrum, do I reward him for finally stopping after kicking and screaming for 20 minutes? Nope, not going to happen and I feel the same way today when I look over at the NHL and the players union. I refuse to re-enforce bad behaviour and that is why Im going to boycott the NHL this season and possibly next season. Ive had it up to hear (picture me showing a hand at the level of my neck) with the league and the players putting their own self interests over the fans. Some fans might be willing to forgive and forget but Im not. Not anytime soon.
While Im pleased this lockout didnt last as long as the previous one, it still lasted a good while and I for one am sick of it. With a full month of football left and baseball spring training starting in less than a month and a half, I feel no need to give the NHL a shred of my time. None whatsoever. They burned the bridge, so they can fix it. Im going to stay on my side and do something else.
At the moment I could care less what happens in the NHL right now.
They are dead to me.
I agree.

I second that!

Games don’t matter until the late season, anyway. I don’t see how a labor negotiation which hurts both owners and players affects us. If Hostess renegotiated their labor agreement, would you stop buying twinkies?

I am an oilers fan .. and never went to the games as I cannot afford those outrageous priced tickets. But I will hope for the team, just not with my wallet. I really couldn’t care less about the strike being over .. it is just something that is on the news today. It just really isn’t that important in the big scheme of things. But should the oilers make the playoffs I would hope for them, but

that’s the extent of it.

Its a shame more people don’t have that sentiment about all of the sports when these jerks pull this crap, the strikes were why I gave up on baseball.

I say ‘**** it!’ I’m still watching hockey. I need my fix.

I so badly want to feel the way you do..or at least act on it but the debacle of the WJC the weekend, I need something. Though, I’m an Oiler fan so I dunno why I should expect better hockey than the Canadian medal round.
Warning Comment
What would constitute fixing it?

There goes the Leafs undefeated streak. And speaking of the Leafs – their fans should also adopt this same sort of attitude. It’s the most profitable franchise but THEY DON’T WIN. The Canadiens saw a drop in attendance at their practices and games when they were playing like sh*t but the Leafs always sell out their games. Leafs fans need to be a little more fickle.
