The Interview…
This morning I had a very good job interview. It’s to work for a printing company, doing various tasks all over the place. From the first impression I got, it’s a very professional company run by some pretty decent people. After talking to the people who are in charge, it’s a company I wouldn’t mind working for as they seemed like decent yet dedicated people. I have no problem with dedicated people, as I’m willing to dedicate myself to my work as well as the next person. A worth ethic I inherited from my father…
It was a very interesting interview. It was a 2 on 1 thing, as the two bosses where on one side of the boardroom table and I was on the other receiving rapid fire questions. They went through an entire sheet of premade questions, and then fired off anything else they could think of during that time. If I didn’t know better, they were trying to make a little pressure to see how I would deal with it. Funny thing is I put them off their game by showing up for the interview 45 minutes early. I do like to show up early (better than late) and the place was a little easier to locate than I thought it would be.
Since I was early and one of them wasn’t ready to go at that time, one of the bosses took the time to give me a full tour of the building and show me everything they do. It was very facinating to see what they do and get an full idea of what the job was before even sitting down for the actual interview. This company wasn’t afraid to let people know absolutely everything before getting down to the nitty gritty about the position. You have to like it when a company is fully up frong without and not afraid to answer any question.
I’m confident, but cautious about how the interview went. While I think it went very well, I have to realize that there were others coming in that day and they could easily make a better first impression. Could be someone more qualified, but worst case is I stay home and keep collecting EI until another good thing comes along. If I get the job, I’ll happily go back to work. Not bad options if you ask me so I’m in a win/win situation. Could be a lot worse…
After the interview, I went to a mall that was only a 7 minute walk from the place where I could be working. Good location actually, and I’d be a stone’s throw away from a lot of good places if I needed to get anything after work if I got the job. I went to Walmart and picked up something for my neice for her 1st birthday. A nice outfit and a small toy. Nothing earth shattering, but something to pass along. I know from experience that a 1 year old can never have too many outfits and I’m sure the ones I got will help out.
So that’s how my day went. I hope everyone else has a bitchin’ Monday and I’ll be around. Until then, take care…
