Take this job and …

I think you know what the rest of that would sound like. While I was walking to work today, I got a phone call I did not expect. It was from the other call center that I was hoping to hear from and they called back weeks later to offer the job. I was a little stunned, but rather than just accept the job, I told them I wouldn’t be able to take is without certain conditions, one being the weekend off when I get my kids. They needed a few moments to think about it and then called me back to say that they accepted my terms. Considering that I wasn’t too happy with the job I had and I was already looking to replace it, I accepted the job and then quit the job I had with no notice.

I don’t feel bad about quitting without notice because the job I had taken was under false pretenses and I was looking to leave anyway. I was doing all right at this job, getting sales and what not but it was very, very stressful and was far too shaky to be considered a stable income. Chances are I would have burned out at a later time and been SOL. There were other issues that I don’t want to get into so I have no trouble parting with this company and leaving them in my dust. From their recent actions, there was no signs of loyalty so I felt no need to show a hint of it to them at all.

So I jumped back on the bus and went back downtown to the new job which by coincidence is right across the street from the mall where my brother works. So I arrived to the new job and have been doing training ever since. I am actually writing this entry from work because internet use is acceptable between calls! Yippie!!!!

This place is super cool and I haven’t worked at a call center like this in a long time, but I am looking forward to working here. This isn’t a sales position, this isn’t an outbound bug the shit out of someone call center either. This is customer service only, which means it’s going to be a lot less stressful and a lot more long term as long as I’m willing to bust my hump and do the best job I am capable of.

While there is a good chance I will make a little less money here, making the move was worth it because the job security will reduce stress and the hours will be better which will make my dietician very happy as well. She didn’t like the hours I was working at the last place and she’ll likely have less to complain about this one.

So I’m at the new job, taking in training and there is no way you could wipe the smile from my face. I’m one happy camper and hopefully it stays that way for a while.

So that’s the big update today, I hope everyone else is having a Monday that is a little less hectic. I’ll be back tomorrow to post more so until then, everyone take care!

Peter
