Some big days are a coming…

I’ve been working a lot of OT again at the call center, but its not to bad becasue I’ve got a great reason to keep working. I want to make sure there is enough cash after all the bills to toss Ethan a half decent birthday party this year. I’m not going to have a lot of cash, but enough to get some cute stuff for the little dude which I think he will enjoy. I’m excited about holding a party as well, cause it will give me a chance to see how well he handles himself with other kids from his daycare. We’ll have some party hats, some cake and something to wash it down with. I’m looking forward to hitting Toys R’ Us to pick up a few cool toys, but nothing too grand. I’m definitely going to get him a new DVD or two, perhaps some new stuffed toys and something else depending on what catches my fancy when I’m shopping.

We have to hold this party on the weekend, and turns out I have both the 17th and the 18th off which is the weekend after Ethan turns 2 (Sept 14th). We’ve been thinking about inviting a few kids over to the house, having cake, music and a few games. Both Leah and I would be there to referree and make sure all goes well, and it would be nice to meet a few parents of the kids that are in Ethan’s daycare class. We didn’t have any party or even a cake last year, but Ethan was too small to have one and I hate cake, so most of it would likely have been wasted. This year, they’ll be plenty of people to polish it off, so we’re more confident about it this year. I still can’t believe two years have flown by so fast! The little guy is growing like a weed, and I’ll have to a do an entry of pictures, just to show you all how big the little fella is actually getting. I might actually do that on his Birthday, will be fun to post.

Leah and I are thinking of going with a Wiggles themes party since most of the kids at the daycare love the Wiggles. They are party stuff we can by at Wallmart, so it would be too expensive to pull that off. I’ve got a crapload of CDs and DVDs to work with as well, so this seems like a logic plan. We’re not thinking of holding the party on the 18th of September which is a Sunday instead of the day before on Saturday. There’s a chance we might be able to take Ethan to a kid’s concert they’re booking for that Saturday. Ethan is a huge fan of the show the concert is based on (Max & Ruby) so it might be worth taking him to, which combined with the party would make for one hell of a Birthday weekend.

Ethan isn’t the only person celebrating a birthday in September, as Leah turns 29 seven days after ethan reached the terrible two. I’m thinking about taking her out to dinner again, especially since doing things like that might be a tad difficult once two boys are mixed into the equation. So what I might do is spend $20 and get someone to babysit Ethan and I’ll take Leah out to dinner and a movie, something just for the two of us. I’ll of course let her pick the movie, only to guarentee that the night goes well… and it will be a lot of fun. I’m thinking of doing something similar for my own Birthday, but what I’ve got in mind is going to be a little more fun and a lot more expensive. On November 9th, which is about a month before the next Peter_24601 is due to hatch… a certian musican/songwriter that I like is coming to town to berfore a concert. Chris DeBurgh is going to be doing a show on the island, and I’m smitten to make an appereance. I missed Mr. DeBurgh the last time he was in town, and don’t want to miss the show again this time out. It would be a Birthday gift for myself and for Leah, as I’ll get two tickets, and take her out for dinner at one of the more classy joints downtown for dinner before hitting the arena for the show. I think if she finds out before I get a chance to nab some tickets, she’ll try to veto the idea and nip it in the bud. I plan to not tell her basically until the night of and surprise her with it. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve had to drag her into a concert kicking and screaming, but after the last few went so well… I’m hoping she’ll trust me a little.

So those are my plans to tackle the next few upcoming birthdays, hence the reason for all the OT that has left me off of OD for the longest time. I hope that everyone is having a good week, and hopefully I’ll find a little time to post an entry or two over the weekend… but I can’t make any promises. So until then, everyone take care and I’ll be around.

Peter

I hope Ethan has a wonderful time. Better lay in some snacks for parents. They usually stay. : )
