Romney is really debating with himself…
To give you an idea of how dishonest Romney was during last week’s debate, all you have to do is compare it to what else he’s been saying on the campaign trail. Funny thing is none of these statements were made behind closed doors this time.
Mitt on Tax Cuts:
Mitt Romney, 10/3/12: I will not reduce the taxes paid by high income Americans.
Mitt Romney, 2/22/12: There were so many misrepresentations in there it’s going to take me a little while. Number one, I said today that we’re going to cut taxes on everyone across the country by twenty percent—including the top one percent.
So which Mitt Romney is telling the truth? According to his own campaign website, the comment about cutting 20% is his current policy. Obama was right to challenge him on his 20% comments, because that is his current goal, to cut taxes, especially for the top 1% who don’t need tax relief.
Mitt Romney on Education:
Mitt Romney, 10/3/12: The key to great schools? Great teachers. So I reject the idea that I don’t believe in great teachers or more teachers.
Mitt Romney, 6/8/12: He says we need more firemen, more policemen, more teachers. Did he not get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did. It’s time for us to cut back on government.
I don’t know about you, but this comment is nasty for three reasons, because if society needs anything, it’s more policemen, firemen and teachers. These are three sectors that should NEVER be cut, especially the first two if you want a quick first response to potential disasters or attacks. Why any Republican would want less cops and first responders is beyond me.
Mitt Romney on Insuring people with a pre-existing condition:
Mitt Romney, 10/3/12: Actually, it’s a lengthy description, but number one, pre-existing conditions are covered under my plan.
Mitt Romney, 3/27/12: If they’re 45 years old and they show up and they say I want insurance because I’ve got heart disease, it’s like: “Hey guys, we can’t play the game like that.” You’ve got to get insurance when you’re well, and then if you get ill, then you’re going to be covered.
This plays to the hands of the insurance companies and their refusal to actually pay for anything, as ‘pre-existing condition’ has always been their go to move to weasel out of paying a dime to anyone. Banning the ‘pre-existing condition’ cop-out isn’t about getting insurance, it’s about getting covered for something you’ve been paying for for decades when you finally need it. Romney clearly is on the side of the insurance companies that want to screw 80 million people out of their coverage and right to seek medical treatment. Romeny accused Obama of wanting to use a panel to make decisions, but Romney has no problem putting corportations who only think of profits in charge of our health. Which seems more cruel to you??
Forget Obama, the real person Romeny seems to having a more lively debate with is himself. This is why I considered Romney’s performance at the debate as showcase of major flip flopping. He really went against everything he’s been saying since he started running in the primaries.
Here are more examples of Mitt’s flip flop history:
If he can’t keep his story straight and then turns on a dime just to pander for your vote… can this man really be trusted?

You misunderstand, friend. It’s not my job to prove anything to you. It was my job to tell you. It’s not my burden, it’s yours. You can dance your mad, little happy dance until the end of time. That’s your choice.
Warning Comment
The flip flop issue is exactly the reason I can’t trust Romney. I just can’t tell what he actually believes. I can’t judge if he is wrong or not, because I don’t know what his real, honest position is.
