Palin’s smug and sarcastic; Needs a babysitter
I managed to catch some of Rudy”Mr. 9/11″ spew his party venom against Barack Obama, and there was one part that I found rather disturbing. He said that Obama had zero experience that mde him qualified to run for President. If I was a member of the Illinois State Legislature, I would take offence to that comment. Ditto to all the Senators that he just dissed as not being real experience to lead a nation. Funny, last time I checked… the Senate was the only political experience John McCain had going into this election too. So if Barack Obama and Joe Biden are not qualified to lead the nation, neither is John McCain. I think that kind of talk just backfires cause McCain hasn’t really lead anything either, so they are not just bashing Biden and Obama… but their own canidate as well because McCain was never a Governor or a leader or anything too. That kind of talk could backfire, because McCain and Obama were chosen by delegates, so they believe the canidates and their Senate experience is enough to qualify them for office. They should let it go before it comes back on them.
There were a lot of inconsistancies in Palin’s speech. She of course wants no one to talk about her family but she wasted no time dragging them out during her speech, using them to gather sympathy and get brownie points with her base. Did you see how she picked up her youngest son for about five seconds so people could take a few photos and then tossed him back to her husband like it was something that was holding her back (or down). I also laughed when McCain came out and tried to get Palin’s youngest daughter to speak into the microphone, and she ran away from him. Get the scary old man away from me! Funny stuff…
I have no doubt that this speech fired up the base, but it will no doubt turn off the independents that are tired of the same attacks without any explaination on how she intends to turn around the economy that’s spiraling towards resession. I also think she’s going to regret dissing community organizers, as that’s something that will come back and bite her later in the campaign. Don’t be surprised if that’s the first thing that Democrats hit her with when they hit back with their own ads.
Here is are a few clips of how her speech was received:
So far the GOP Convention hasn’t been about issues, which is course not a surprise since they can’t win on the issues. The last eight years makes it impossible for them to argue the issues, because the Republicans are the ones who are responsible for the current mess that the nation is currently in. She can attack Obama all she wants, but when it comes to the VP against Joe Biden the issues will be what they talk about. The economy, nation security, foreign policy and all that jazz will be the topics and so far there hasn’t been any mention of any of that during the GOP convention.
So will McCain make any mention of the issues tomorrow, or will he spend his entire time bashing Obama, talking about terrorism and make several false stories about his time as a POW? He needs to do the same thing Obama did last week and actually tell the nation what kind of change he wants to bring to the country or it will be a failed convention. He will fail to reach out to the independents that he needs to win this election, because they don’t want to hear attacks… they want to hear how he will make their lives better. But like Obama said during his convention, when you don’t have a platform or policy to work with you have to resort to attacks. That’s all we’ve heard from the GOP. All attack and no policy. Is McCain going to prove him right or actually rise above the party mud slinging and actually give a real speech? We’ll have to wait and see…

True true. I’ve been reading articles about how “impressive” Palin’s speech was, yet I can’t find any quotes that have any particular amount of substance to them. But then she doesn’t seem to have any substance to talk about. She’s deflecting attention away from the fact that she has nothing significant to say with jokes, slights on Obama, and “look at my pretty little normal family” moments.

i have to commend you for actually watching this. i got through about 4 seconds in which rudy stated that palin has more experience than obama and biden combined. i threatened to break the tv, but decided to go online instead. (i plan to watch the clips when i’m not at work.)

I love how the mainstream media keeps talking about how McCain “doesn’t liike to talk about being a POW”. I don’t know which McCain they’ve been watching for the last year and a half.

9u1ian1 said Barack has never been leader of anything. What has John McCain been leader of other than leading a nose dive into Hanoi? And even then I think gravity did its part.

You can down her all you want, but the truth and reality we live in is that the majority vote is white baby boomers who are old, grey haired, conservative republicans. They would most likely rather die then allow Obama to run this country. And they are more likely to go out and vote and they will out number the young people who want Obama to win. But those were fun clips to watch.
