Nanowrimo Update: Day 21
Last night I validated my word count with the official site to complete my goal of 50,000 words in 30 days. As of today, I’m at 72,000 words. So I’m almost halfway through the 2nd book of the month.
I’m going to email the first book finished to my Dad later today. I’m going to visit him in Florida next month for the holidays, so I’m hoping he’ll have it read by then so we can do edits and revisions. When all that is done, I should be able to release the new book probably around mid-January.
All this time I’m still working comic books, and other ghost projects. So I’ve been a lean, mean writing machine this month.
This is the 12th year in a row where I’ve complete my 50,000 words, and I can’t wait to do it again next year, and the year after that, etc. I’m not sure if it’s the artificial deadline, the interaction with other writers, or just the enjoyment of competition that makes this marathon of the mind so much fun. The social aspect is a lot of fun because I like interacting with other writers, inspiring them to do better with their work and vice versa.
So here in the Hammer, local writers get together on the 30th of November, the last day of the event, and attend what we call Waffelapoloza. We go to a specific coffee shop that makes amazing waffles and celebrate our wins. Those who have passed 50K get to order waffles, so I look forward to eating my decadent waffles a week from Thursday.
I’m happy with how this month has been going, and I’m getting a lot of work done.
I’ll post a few entries here as well, but I’m going to push for more words for the second book.
Until next time, take care everyone!
Peter
Glad to see another writer posting here who knows about National Novel Writing Month. Congratulations on your win, sir. ❤
