Nanowrimo: almost at the mid-way point
We are three days away from the mid-way point of this year’s NaNoWriMo… and I think I’m on pace to be well over 30,000 by that point (knock on wood). The best part about being half way through the month is that the local writers participating in Hammer Town always host a party to celebrate being halfway through the month. Last year’s mid-way party was a lot of fun, so I am looking forward to this year’s which I’m sure will be this Saturday. It will be nice to take a break from the new novel and just relax and recharge… but it’s also good to have something to work for and look forward to as I keep writing this week. That alone will be enough incentive for me to reach my mid-way goals.
What I have worked very hard to do is make sure that the new novel hasn’t taken time away from important things, like spending time with the kids and making sure chorse are done and what not. To accomplish that, instead of taking time away from the important stuff to write… I took time away from the other stuff I do around the house. So instead of spending time with the books I was reading, or playing video games or even watching my favorite shows… I would skip that and instead use that time to write instead of neglecting what is truly important. I think that’s the best way to accomplish this without getting Leah too bent out of shape about it. As long as it doesn’t stop me from doing my thing around the house and helping out, she’s cool with it for now.
I guess you could say that is a bit of a sore point for me. I’m in the process of writing my third straight novel in November, and she doesn’t seem to care about it that much if at all. Heck, she hasn’t even read any of them… not even the one I am shopping around to publishers and agents. I’m not trying to let it bother me too much and move on with my work. I’m almost halfway through this project, and I think when this one is finished it will be a revision and a few edits away from being publishable as well. That’s how well this one has been going this November.
So I hope everyone is doing all right this month and to my fellow Nanos in the circle… I hope the writing is going well for you too. I might be around depending on how much more I get done today, but if not everyone take care and have a good week!
Peter
i would have a hard time with the lack of support. my man is always supporting my writing because he’s under the impression that if i ever got published, he wouldn’t have to work anymore. i let him pretend that’s true.
