Mini review of 300…
To sum this up in a nutshell: Wow. This is by far the first big hit of 2007. This movie was visually spectacular and the pace of the battles didn’t make the fighting drag on. It was served in portions and not overdone. In other words, this movie fucking rocks!
While I doubt the movie is entirely accurate historically, it’s a well made telling about the battle of Thermopylae some 2,500 years ago. It was about the brutal invasion of Xerxes, the Persian emperor who led his force against Greek’s city states in 480 B.C. The battles and the blood where graphic were amazing and highly entertaining, and most of all… very loyal to the works they were based on.
One thing that made this movie so impressive was the cast. This movie wouldn’t have been the same had Gerard Butler not been in this. His amazing performance as Leonidas, the Spartan king was spot on. This performance was so good, I’m almost willing to forgive him for being the Phantom of the Opera…
If you took Sin City and Gladiator and mashed them up into one sick, twisted film… 300 is what you would come up with. It’s a fresh and very entertaining film, and the first must see of the year.

I loved him in Phantom! AND if he hadn’t been he might not have gotten this part.

The review I read in the Chicago paper this morning was terrible. Still, I plan to see it.

Howdy, I’m trying to put together a fantasy baseball league made up of OD people. was wondering if you’d like to join. If so, info is on my diary. (apologies if I asked you already, my memory is terrible)

I can’t wait to see it–although I dread all the gore. I realize this probably doesn’t interest me in the same way it does you, but I am really excited about all the loincloths.
