Man I love this book…
“I have found it an amusing strategy, when asked whether I am an atheist, to point out that the questioner is also an atheist when considering Zeus, Apollo, Amon Ra, Baal, Thor, Wotan, the Golden Calf and the Flying Spagetti Monster. I just go one God further…”
The above quote is a small sample from the Rickard Dawkins book titled ‘The God Delusion’ that I recently aquired.
I’m a few chapters into it and find it well written, very amusing but very wordy. I’m not ashamed to say that I actually had to look a few words up to find out what Dawkins was trying to say. It’s a great book but I’m moving at a snail’s pace to read it. I don’t want to rush it and have been taking my time so that I can absorb all the author is trying to say. A good approach to such an intelligent piece of work…
A few people from work have already asked if they could burrow this book when I’m finished reading it. I’m not one of those book people who try to keep all books in prestine condition. They’re meant to be read, so I’d be happy to pass this one around and let my buds read it as well. There’s even a bud on OD who wants to burrow it and I’d be happy to let him read it as well… as soon as he pays up his debt for the Dolphins getting their asses handed to them by the Bills. Don’t think I didn’t forget! 🙂

I was trying to remember where I’d heard that quote – thank you. (I still think there’s a God, but it’s way closer to the Force than the bearded version I grew up with.)

Yeah, I know. Seriously, email me your address and I’ll pay off my debt. platosearwax@gmail.com.

Random: Was passing through OD when I saw this opening quote and had to take a look. VERY glad I did – am going to buy that book tomorrow. I’ve heard a similar quote regarding gods and such and I just think it makes a very fine point. 🙂
