Lease is signed, it’s official…

Today I signed a new lease and pretty much signed my soul away for at least the next twelve months. So officially we have taken the new appartment, pending a final inspection of the appartment. I’m going to meet my new super at the appartment tonight, and do the final inspection before getting the keys handed over to make the transaction official. Then we can start moving stuff in. We plan to start doing that tomorrow afternoon by moving the fragile and breakables in first. We also plan to move very sensitive stuff like the Computer over as well, stuff that I don’t want to entrust to movers and such.

So now that it’s official, we’ll need to start moving stuff and now the real work begins.

Well, unlike our last move, we’re going to have professionals do the really hard work. The furnature, tables, and beds along with about 60% of our boxes will be moved by 5 pros with a truck, and we’ll pay them well to do it. They’re going to earn their money next Wednesday, casue we live on the fourth floor. Real fun… I’m sure they’ll be cursing us up every step, but that’s their job. It’s what I am paying them to do. Once we’ve got all our crap up there and put away, I’m sure everyone will start to settle down and relax. It will take a while for everyone to adjust to the new building, the stairs and the new area… but I think it will be for the best, and eventually we’ll all be okay with it. It’s a litlte different from the setup we have now, but in some ways it’s better while lacking in others. It’s something we’ll have to work on but I’m sure we’ll be just fine.

Just to make things interesting, the island’s weather station has issued a blizzard warning for our area for tonight and tomorrow. Like I needed any help from Old Man Winter when trying to move stuff in tomorrow. We’ll try to move some stuff if the weather isn’t too bad, but that will be up to the friend who is driving the stuff over. If it’s too dangerous, we’ll have to postpone. I know that might upset Leah, but the point was to move stuff over without damaging it, so to move during a bad blizzard would pretty much make the purpose of the early meaningless. We can always postpone to Sunday or Monday if possible. Leave it to the wife to want to move in the middle of winter… sheesh.

So things are okay over here. I’m going to meet with my super after work and pick up my keys after the final inspection. I can’t wait to get this started cause the sooner we start the friggin’ sooner it’s done!

Did I mention that I hate moving?

I’ve moved a lot, and it seems that moving only gets worse as time goes by. Once I lived on the fourth floor of an apartment building, and I still remember how heavy and bulky the sleeper-sofa was, and how I felt like leaving it when it got stuck on the third-floor landing. Worst of all, I only lived there for about six months, so I had to do it all over again far too soon.

ryn: It’s weird, you wait for this day for so long, and when it comes, you don’t know what to say. Should I throw a party? Oh, first I should call mom. Wait, booze!
