Heroes Season Premiere in a word: BORING!
(Our Heroes are back, but haven’t we seen this episode already?)
I remember reading an article about the future of Heroes and the creator of the show promised a step forward, but all I saw last ngiht were multiple steps back. I dont know about you, but I wanted to see the immediate aftermath of the Peter/Sylar standoff, not skip four months into the future. I also wanted to see Peter Petrelli expand and hone his powers and take the next step to becoming the badass we saw in the future, not watch him lose his memory and have to go all the way back to square one. All this and watching Claire and her family try to be normal again is why last nights Heroes preimere was a big, fat, steaming pile of crap! Unless another debut coming out in the next few weeks falls completely on its face, this will be the worst premiere of the season.
Here are just a few problems I had with the episode:
– The episode apparently takes place four months later, but for Hiro we start off with him right were he left off, 300+ years in the past. So everyones storyline progressed for months ahead expect for Hiro. Just seems out of place and confusing.
– I like the fact that many characters who could have been easily written off are back and doing all right like Parkman for example. Yet a lack of explaining how they survived is frustrating, but hopefully it will be addressed in flashbacks.
– With Claire trying to fit back into highschool and her father working a normal job by day and trying to take down the company he used to work for by night, Im just getting a horrible case of Deja Vu. Weve seen this storyline already, and for the record: reruns suck!
– Killing off a character for the sake of killing off a character is pointless. It was a cheap tactic to spice up the preimere that failed and in turn wasted a good character. Now who is Ando going to hang out with now until Hiro returns? Nikki?
– Peter in Ireland with amnesia is a horrible storyline, not to mention a complete ripoff of a recently popular film franchise starring Matt Damon. Unless the invisable man makes a return to save Peter and help restore his memory double time. When Peter said he didnt know what his name was, I groaned and tossed whatever popcorn I had left at the television screen.
Change is part of moving on and I can live with that, but this isnt change. This the same old, same old being passed off as change. Because of that, this episode was just flat out boring with a capital B. The writers of Heroes need to stop thinking back and actually move foward. We dont want to watch Peter going through the whole discovery phase again, nor do we want to watch Claire go thought highschool again. This is old material, and like I said above we dont like to watch reruns. All we need is Sylar to come back and chase Claire through the hallways and we have season 1 all over again. Lets hope things gets a little better from here or I might start counting the days and hours until 24 comes back
Peter
Hahahahahahaha… I didn’t think it was THAT bad, geesh! 🙂 However, I totally agree about the Hiro being 300 years in the past, but not four months ahead of when this episode started. Very random. Give it some time 😛

Not a strong opener by any means no, but I didn’t find it boring. I do agree that it seemed a bit disjointed though. Also I don’t understand how Nathan is alive. I thought the whole point of the finale of last season was that he sacrificed himself to save his brother. Peter was radioactive, how come Nathan didn’t burn to a crisp?

There will be an episode in a few weeks called ‘Four Months Ago’ where many things you mention will be addressed. As for Hiro, I assume that given that time is fluid and he can come and go as he pleases, he could’ve ended up in 1671 in a week or two days or three seconds after the finale’s timeline.

I thought it was ok. It wasn’t the worst ep ever. I did keep waiting for Kristen Bell to show up (cause she is the awesome!)and was disappointed later when I found out she won’t be on until ep 4 or 5. The amnesia is really bad storytelling though. And I want to know how the hell Nathan didn’t die after the finale. I mean, come on Peter was a fireball!
