Greetings from Florida!

I’ve been down here since Monday, but things have been so busy down here that this is the earliest I could find time to write. I arrived in Orlando around 8am Monday morning, but I had been up all night at the airports so I was very tired when I arrived. Dad took me to Denny’s for a nice breakfast and then I crashed for the afternoon. The reason why I took the 5am-8am flight to Orlando, is cause the earlier the flight it, the more money we save.

So after a day resting and catching up, the next day my Dad and I drove out to Tampa Bay. We also took along one of my dad’s good friends who lives down here and has been helping dad since he moved to Florida. This friend helped my Dad find the place he bought, and has even helped him spend the last several months helping Dad fix the place up. This friend, named Rob, is also a die hard Leaf fan like myself, so when I bought tickets to see our Maple Leafs take on the Lightning, I made sure to buy three to give one to Rob… a small thank you from myself for all the help he’s given.

We went to Tampa, had a good dinner and then went to the amazing arena down there to check out the game. I brought down two Leaf jerseys so Dad and I could represent (See main picture above) and we looked pretty awesome going in. I was surprised to see there was a lot of Leaf jerseys in Tampa that day, we kept bumping into and talking to a lot of Canadians that made the trip to see the game to. As you can see by the picture below, we also had a great view of the game.

The game itself started off great, as our beloved Maple Leafs jumped out to a quick lead. They were even winning 3-1 after two periods, but Tampa is in first place for a reason… and that team came out firing in the 3rd and not only came back but beat my team 4-3 before the last period ended.

While that result was a little heartbreaking, it was still a fun game to check out. It was exciting, had a decent amount of scoring and everyone had a great time. Going to the game with Dad and Rob was a lot of fun, especially since I’ve known Rob most of my life and we’re both die hard Leaf fans. We have already decided that we’re going to do this again next season, maybe even make it a yearly tradition. I’m all for it cause this is the cheaper way to see my Leafs, and I get to spend time with Dad too so that’s a bonus. I think Dad had fun too, even though he’s not as big a hockey fan as the two of us were. He put up with us for the most part, and was a good sport about it.

So now I’m back outside Orlando, and yesterday was a mellow get back into things kinda pace. We did a little shopping and even watched a movie. So things are backĀ  to normal now and I finally found time to write. I’m also doing some comic book work here as well. We’re going to hit the beach this weekend, maybe even a baseball game… so there is more fun to be had.

So that’s my trip to Florida so far, and I’ve only been here three days. I still got seven more to go!

I’ll post again soon, but until then… take care!

Peter

Given all the snow we have been having here, it looks wonderful to be outside in t-shirts!

@thediarymaster agreed!!! It’s a novelty to leave a coat behind the past few days (but I was pushing it Saturday-it really wasn’t quite that warm)
