Early visits, new jobs and upcoming trips…
Jonathan was sent home from school again yesterday, and I could tell the Leah was getting visably upset about what was going on with the school. To top things off, Ethan broke his glasses and we can’t find his spare pair. So one kid is misbehaving all the time and the other can’t see… so a thought occurred to me: why bother sending them to school today if they’ll get nothing done?
I’m supposed to take the kids today, but I offered to take them a day early since I’m not doing anything today. So I took them Thursday night and I will return them on Sunday as usual. I don’t mind taking the guys for an extra day. I am starting a new job next week where I won’t be able to do stuff like this anymore, so I decided to offer this extra help while I still could. The kids have been a little hyper but I’ve settled them down and gotten things under control.
It’s nice to have them here again and to me more time with my boys is not a burden, even when they ocassionally get on my nerves. I always love having my boys here and an extra day is all right in my books. Today we’re watching PBS shows (Curious George, Dinosaur Train, etc) and just lounging on the fouton and having fun.
Tomorrow we’ll do some painting and other crafts. I always try to keep them from being in front of the Television 24/7, but this weekend Ethan and I are going to try to watch a new movie. I got a copy of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, the one that stars Johnny Depp and is directed by Tim Burton. It will be interesting to see what Ethan thinks of this movie.
As I stated above, I have a new job. One that offers more hours and better incentives. I’m hoping to do better with this one, and while there was a third job that offered more hours and a better call center environment… I turned it down. This job was asking me to work every weekend, and that meant I wouldn’t be able to have my weekends with the boys. I told the job I accepted that I was made a better offer but would be willing to take theirs if they offered me every other weekend off so I could be with my boys. This company wanted my services enough to accept my terms. I will work hard to make sure the do not regret this decision.
This also means I can start saving money for various trips;
1) April 15th I plan to take Ethan to see the Blue Jays vs. The Red Sox. It’s a 12 noon start time, and the third home game of the season. Ethan doesn’t get a lot of one on one and we’re both going to play hookey that day. Should be super fun!
2) My family is having a reunion in New Orleans on the May 24th weekend. My brother wants to go and wants me to go with him. Since I’m not taking the kids with me, this would be a super fun trip to see family and see the sites in the Big Easy. Not much arm twisting was required for this one.
3) After the reunion, I plan to save up for a trip to San Francisco. There is someone I want to hang out with there who has extended an open invitation to hang out, see some cool sites and check out a Giants game. There are so many cool things to see out there, especially this nice person so I hope I can save enough to make it happen.
So I’ve got big plans for 2012… hopefully I’ll have the ability to make most of it happen.
For now I’m going to take off and concentrate on the boys and our weekend first. Then new work starts on Monday and I’ll take care of all that other stuff later. Everyone have a great Friday and I’ll be back later in the weekend. Until then, take care!

Yay! I’m glad things are coming together work-wise. Now if everything else can just follow suit! 🙂

Bring a jacket to the Giants game. I went to one in the middle of summer and it was soooooo cold once the sun set. Congrats on the new job!

Oh man, I’m jealous… how much do I wish I could take a trip somewhere! These days I pretty much just drive between Grand Bank and St. John’s.
