Dinner out, Concerts and an Irish Pub
Time for an update since it’s been over three days since I wrote a single word in this diary. And no, it hasn’t been because of World Of Warcraft. I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time for that either. Turns out work and home stuff has kept me very, very busy and that’s okay. Neither the game or my diary are going anywhere anytime soon so there’s no need to panic and waste a lot of energy over it. For someone who has been working the whole time, I had a very decent weekend, and here it is in a nutshell, kind of:
Ethan and Chris had a great time at the Clifford concert. Ethan was only a dozen rows from the stage so he got a rather good view of the fourteen foot red dog that was on stage. Apparently he loved the show and is now a die hard fan of all things Clifford. I’m glad he had such a good time, which was one thing I was looking forward to doing with Ethan when he came to this province. Shows like this were few and far between on the island, and there are dozens more I plan to take him to over the summer. Should be a lot of fun.
Speaking of fun, later that night when I got back… I had to fend for myself to get something to eat. Nothing to get upset about, I was going to have soup and something small to munch on. But then I found out that Leah hadn’t eaten as well. Chris too Ethan out for nuggets and fries after the show. So I came up with a cool idea: Leah and I should go out for supper, just the two of us. Chris didn’t mind and said he would watch the kids for us. Leah bolted up stairs and dressed up for it, and I did the same. We went to a nice place just a few blocks away. Leah had pasta and I had fish, and it was pretty good. There are a ton of Chinese/Indian places in our area and while I love both foods, Leah hates Indian and wasn’t in the mood for Chinese so we had something a little less excentric.
After we had supper, Leah wanted to go out for a drink. The waitress who took care of our table said there was a great Irish Pub that a lot of people love to go to for drinks and live music. It wasn’t far from our place so we decided to check it out. When we got there, it was a beautiful place, but the music hadn’t started yet. So we had a few drinks and watched the Leaf game at the bar for a while. They even had my favorite drink (Strongbow) on tap! This place is only three block away from where I live so it quickly became my favorite pub. When the music started we had even more fun. The band was amazing and they sang a crapload of amazing cover songs which everyone loved. Leah wanted to dance a lot but I didn’t want to so we only went up once or twice. She keeps forgetting that I have a bad knee and tore my calf only two months ago, so I’m still not to eager to cut the rug.
We still had a lot of fun, but there was a moment when Leah cried a bit cause she missed her friends and wish they were there to party with her. This is the first time she’s moved so far away from then, and they also had a massive party back on the island the day before and she really wanted to be there for that one cause one of her best friends is moving to Calgary later in the year. I told her that if she wanted to, we’ll save up some money and let her fly up there to visit her and spend time time with them. She seemed to appreciate the idea and asked what I wanted in return for it. I thought that was a mean thing to say, since I was sincere with my idea and never suggested it to get something in return. But since she did bring it up, I did let her know that a friend did invite me to visit him in New York to catch a Yankees and/or Mets game in the summer. Now that I’m in Ontario, the big apple is only a short train ride away… would be cool to head to New York and visit my bud. She said if it was only for a weekend, it would be all right with her… especially if she got to go Calgary to visit her friend. Seems like a bargin to me!
So Leah and I got to spend some quality time together and give her some attention for a change, which was one of many reasons why were having problems as of late. This is something we should try to do again at least once or twice a month if no more if our fiances are all right. We’ll just have to see. But it’s nice to have people here willing to watch the kids to let us get out and do that every now and then. I’ll have to do something super nice for Chris to thank him for all he’s done so far. I’m thinking a ticket for that Meat Loaf concert might do the trick…
So that’s the update here from Steel City. I’m at work and clocking some serious time and even some OT so things are decent and getting better all the time. I hope everyone else is having a decent week and if it gets slow today, I might post a few notes and maybe another entry. Until then, take care…
