Concerts and other cool family stuff…

It’s been a while since my last update, but this is normal for the month following the blogathon. I’ve got a lot to catch up on so this will be a decent sized entry. A few things have happened but all for the good, so here goes:

Last Saturday, Leah went to see Great Big Sea in Toronto. These were the tickets I bought her in May for Mother’s Day, and I know how much she loves the band so it was a great deal. I had originally wanted to get tickets for ZZ Top and Aerosmith for Sept 2nd, but it was sold out… so I went with GBS instead. I guess it was for the best, cause Steven Tyler had a fall earlier this month and separated his shoulder, resulting in the remainder of the tour to be cancelled. So thankfully I didn’t get that show and Leah was able to see a concert.

I was originally supposed to go with her, but we were unable to find a babysitter to watch the boys. With the way Jon and Ethan act, we can’t get just anyone to watch them… the last sitter that ran for the hills (just watching Jon) was proof of that. So I volunteered to stay home cause the tickets was her gift and told her to invite a friend of her choice to go with her. She invited a co-worker who was more than happy to take the ticket off my hands. I didn’t mind because I’ve been encouraging Leah to spend more time with friends and co-workers to socialize and what not. So I again encouraged her to go out with a friend and have a good time. I got to see David Wilcox earlier this month without Leah (she didn’t want to go in the rain) so I wasn’t offended about the idea of being left behind. It was her gift so as long as she went and had a good time, mission accomplished!

She did have a very good time, which was necessary cause she’s been working hard and needed to go out and just have some fun. While I’m a little disappointed that we are not going out to enjoy the fun together, right now this kind of fun is better than none. This coming Saturday is our 11th Wedding Anniversary, and I want to take her out to dinner, maybe a movie if we can find someone to watch the rug-rats. I think Chris is going to watch them for me, so we might have a chance to go out and enjoy a little one on one company. I think I’m going to find a very nice place and book a reservation, go all out.

Speaking of celebrations, September is always a busy month for me because there are two birthdays during that month in my household. On the 14th of Sept, Ethan is going to turn six! I know… time is just flying by. Exactly one week later, Leah turns 33. So I’ve been putting some cash aside and been making plans for both of them. I’ve been thinking of taking both of them to see a concert, but different shows for each person of course. This Saturday, tickets go on sale for the ACC in Toronto for KISS’s Alive 35 tour. I think two tickets to see KISS would be a very cool gift for Leah, as she has always wanted to see that band in concert. I might have to camp overnight at the ticket boothe to ensure that I get tickets when they open at 10am on Saturday. This would be an awesome concert to check out together, one I am sure Leah wouldn’t soon forget.

For Ethan’s birthday, I’m thinking of a much different concert. On the 25th of October, ‘The Wiggles’ are coming to the Roger’s Centre (aka Skydome) for four shows. I’m thinking of getting the 1pm tickets for all four of us (myself, Leah, Ethan and Jon) and we’ll all go to the show as a family… a first for us all. It will be a fun time going to Toronto together, and Jon’s first concert. Ethan already saw Clifford the big red dog, so it will be his second.

My Birthday is just after it, on Oct 28th, but I’m not the kind of person who is all about the gifts. To me, a nice quiet day with the family is more than enough for me. Anything else is gravy…

Things have been all right here in the city. I haven’t heard back yet on that possible promotion but call centers are infamous for being very, very slow on any decision so this is no exception. I’m hoping for the best, and will update you guys when I hear something.

One cool thing to report. When I took Ethan grocery shopping a few weekends ago, I let him walk beside me outside of the cart for the first time. He didn’t run off, stayed very close and only grabbed a few things to toss into the cart. They didn’t cost much, so I let it slide and overall he was very well behaved. I was very proud of my little guy… and hopefully he’ll be that good almost every time i take him out.

So that’s it from the city, I hope everyone else is doing well, and I’ll be back later to maybe post something else… but no promises!

Peter

have you ever checked out the Sanderson Center in Brantford, they have lots of kids shows there and aren’t too badly priced, I’d love to go see any of those concerts, well except the Wiggles, lol, have a good night!
