Chilling in Florida…

Arrived safely in Orlando on Monday, and it’s been a fun week in Florida so far. Dad’s got a nice place in a small town in Mid-Florida, something small and cozy which works for him.

This place is pretty awesome, I like it and it’s in a nice area too. It’s got two bedrooms, two baths, and plenty of space for half his stuff. The other half is in the house he shares with my younger brother back in Ontario.

Dad bought this place last July and I think he got a great deal for it. I prefer this area to Nashville, as I am enjoying my visit thus far.

Dad and I walk his dogs every morning, doing three laps around the area to get a nice workout and give the dogs a change to pee and what not.

There’s a pool on the site too, so I’ve managed to get some swimming in. I am making sure that I just relax sometimes and not try to be in such a hurry. I want to spend this vacation relaxing sometimes and not running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off.

The weather has been warm this week, but not too warm and that’s been nice. We’re thinking of hitting Cocoa Beach this weekend, and that will be a lot of fun. I like the idea of hitting a beach and just relaxing in the sun.

On Wednesday, Dad and I hit Disney Land’s Wild Kingdom park. It was pretty much like a zoo, but it was still fun to check out. I had a chance to check out the Avatar park which is a part of the Wild Kingdom, but I passed for a few reasons. One, the lines were massive cause this part of the park is still rather new. And two: I’m not a big fan of the movie. I hated Avatar so visiting a park based on it didn’t really fill me with excitement. So we skipped it.

There were a lot of nice exhibits, and I’ll post more pics of that when I get the chance. While I enjoy checking out the sites, I am just as content to hang out and do nothing. I let my father know that I’m not going to push him to to hit busy sites, asĀ  I would prefer to relax pool or beach side instead. Put some Rest in my R&R.

Ditto for food. We don’t have to dine out every night, and I would prefer to save a few bucks and cook something at home and save for more fun things later in the week. I also have some last minute Xmas shopping to do, and by last minute I mean during the big boxing day sales since I won’t see the boys until after the holidays, just before new years.

I asked Dad what he wanted for Xmas, and he jokingly said he wanted me to get a haircut. When I arrived in Orlando, my hair was a few inches past my shoulders and was really, really long.

So since he was buying and offered to take me out for BBQ for lunch after, I relented and let the old man have what he wanted for the holiday. I took over ten inches off and got the mop chopped, as you can see in the pic beside this paragraph. I haven’t had the mop chopped in over a year and a half, so it feels weird to have it short again.

I’m not worried. It will grow back.

We had BBQ for lunch and that made the deal all worth it. I ordered a platter with 3 meat samples, two sides and homemade cornbread on the side. To say the meal was amazing would be a complete understatement. It was fucking amazing. I even took a good bit of it home and had it for a snack later.

Not trying to do too much, and enjoy the days rather than feel the need to do something everyday. I’m even using some of the downtime to get some work done as I’ve been doing comic books to fill some of the time. Not too much, but whenever I feel inspired, I go with the flow.

So that’s the update from Florida. I’ll try to post some more pictures and updates as the week goes on. I’m down here until the 28th, so I have a few more days left.

I tried to post an entry a few days ago, but there was an issue with page. The DM got it fixed in good time so thank you to the staff for solving it, which allowed me to post this entry. I’ll be back later, but for now I’m going to get some more sun and have a little fun.

Until then, take care everyone!

Peter
