Breakfast for Dinner…
This is something I started last year, as April 9th for me is “Breakfast for Dinner” day. So today I made scrambled eggs and toast, and had it for supper instead of breakfast.
There’s a story behind this.
I was a difficult kid growing up, and that’s a complete understatement. My boys were angels compared to how I was as a kid. And one of the biggest and most infamous fights we had back then was about breakfast for dinner. She made it one day and I refused to eat it, and it sparked a huge stand off and another big fight. Today I look back and see a snotty brat that was looking for any excuse to lash out at his parents.
It’s been almost two years since my mom passed away, and I started this last April… to make breakfast for supper on this day, which is my mother’s birthday. It’s something I plan to do every April 9th for the rest of my years.
Despite my lack of mobility from the stroke, I still managed to make the eggs, and the new tradition continues.
Happy birthday, Mom.

Today is my mom’s birthday too. She is still alive, and she is turning 93 years young today. She is still active with playing bridge despite diminishing eyesight, driving – minimally – to my sister’s house, and living alone.
