Blogathon # 37: My musical bucket list…
Time Posted: 3:02am EST
Last year, Leah and I went to ACC in Toronto to see The Eagles. I stood in line forever to get my hands on those tickets cause the first show sold out in less than 15 minutes. After we watched the show, she told me that was the one band she wanted to see in her lifetime before she passed on… kind of one of the things she wanted to do before she died cause the Eagles was her favorite band of all time… which was one reason why I wanted to get her the tickets. That and I like the band too.
That got me thinking, what bands/artists do I want to see before it’s too late?
So this is the list of musical acts I would like to see before it’s too late. If I’m lucky I might be able to cross one or two off within the next half a decade. So here goes:
5) Jon Mellencamp
I’ve been a fan of Mellencamp since “The Lonesome Jubliee” which I happen to think is one fo the best albums I’ve ever heard. If he ever comes back to TO or the Hammer, I will be the first in line for tickets.
4) Aerosmith
I actually tried to get tickets for September of this year, but was unsuccessful, which is too bad because Leah wanted to see this show too. Maybe next time…
3) Elton John
He was actually here in May with Billy Joel. Those tickets were gone for multiple shows in less than an hour. They were also up on ebay even quickier… but that’s another issue I don’t want to get into right now.
2) The Rolling Stones
I don’t know if they’ll come back for another tour, but if they did I would make this next tour a priority because some of these guys are one ribeye away from separating from the band permanently.
1) Paul McCartney
My wife Leah isn’t a very big Beatlemanic, but I was spoon fed on the stuff and can’t get enough of it. My mom was a teenager when the British Invasion occurred in the 60’s, and she had every LP that was released during those days. What I have considered that if I manage to publish and make a small mint with one of my books, I’m going to take my Mom to see McCartney in concert, cause she’s never had the chance to see him live all these years. Sir Paul has been doing scattered concerts in North America over the last few months, I’m hoping for a full tour to be announced and then I’ll be lining up for tickets again.
So that’s my modest little list. I would consider myself very lucky if was able to get just one off that list. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens but that is my concert hit list… hopefully I’ll get a chance to see one of them sooner than later.
So chip in, what is on your musical bucket list?
