Blogathon # 14: Ethan’s Favorite Shows…
Time: 5:02pm Island Time (3:32pm EST)
Another cool question: What are Ethan’s favorite TV shows?
Don’t get me wrong, Ethan is an active kid. Just a few days ago we were outside at the park kicking around the soccer ball. Ethan really did well with that and is showing great potential. So while Ethan is up and about when he wants to do so… nothing will stop the little fella from lounging on the couch when his favorite show is on television. So here is a small list of the shows that will distract Ethan from start to finish:
1. The Backyardigans:
This I suspect there are only like 12 episodes in existence, this is a creative show that really keeps Ethan’s attention. It’s about four animal like kids (named in order from right to left, Tyrone, Tasha, Pablo, Uniqua, and Austin) who use their imagination to pretend they are anywhere in the world. Ethan’s favorite episodes is one when they are Ghosts in a haunted house, Mounties in the Yukon, and the one with the Soccer Monster. A very creative program, but I just wish they would release some new material.
2. Thomas & Friends
For some reason, Ethan calls Thomas ‘Hops’ and while I’m not sure why, I don’t try to correct him. He’s starting to call all the trains by their right names, and really gets into this show… especially the new episodes with the songs and new stories.
3. Dora The Explorer
Ethan also enjoys watching Diego, but this one catches his full attention every time it’s on. Last year for Xmas, we bought him that talking map and he couldn’t get enough of it. He actually knows how to count to four in spanish now cause of this… cool, eh?
4. Babar
I didn’t like this show much as first, but I’ve grown to enjoy it’s humor, and this is one show that actually calms Ethan down when he watches it. You need shows like that taped, especially when it gets close to his bedtime.
5. The Wiggles
What can I say about these guys. Their show is educational, musical and really entertaining, even to parents who watch it. If they came to the island, I would take Ethan to one of their concerts in a heartbeat. I think Leah would stay home though…
So that’s what catches Ethans attention… see you in 30!

Warning Comment
I remember reading Babar the elephant books when I was in grade school. I thought it made no sense. But the pictures are cute aren’t they?
