Back at work, making the bacon…

Going to work used to be such a chore. I hated going into the center and dreaded walking out the door everyday. It made me a very, very bitter person… and I’m sure it rubbed off on everyone else. Now that I’m at a new place, working for nice people who I want to work for… it’s like night and day. I don’t dread walking out the door and that makes a difference. The fact that I’m making more money as well is just icing on the cake. Things have turned around, and while things at home are not perfect (when are they ever?) I really hope that this is making a bit of a difference.

I can also tell the same thing can be said for Leah as well. She loves working at the daycare here in Ontario as opposed to the hole she worked at on the island. It’s laboring work, but I can tell she likes it and the money she’s bringing home. If they pick her up full time, she’s going to make more than I do. I’m not imtimidated by that and would be happy to see her make was she deserves. She works hard for every penny she makes… you’ll never hear me say other wise. I’m proud of her and what she’s doing, as am I with the work I’m doing here.

So things are on the up and up. Chris is having a ball with the kids and I think they’re enjoying time with their Uncle. You see, this time every year Chris and half his staff get laid off cause it gets very, very slow this time of year. So with Chris off work until March/April, he wants to use that time to help us out so we don’t have to pay a fortune for daycare. He’s a lifesaver and since he’s had little time with the kids for the first few years, he’s making up for time lost and I can tell how much he loves being around them.

Leah and I had made plans to go out tonight, but instead we went out Saturday night past. So even though tonight is payday, we’re both working hard so I think I’ll get some munchies and we’ll watch a movie tonight instead. was thinking of maybe the Illusionist or something else new we haven’t seen yet. I’d love to hit the theatre that is only a few blocks away, but I can’t see Leah wanting to do that just yet. Not much out these days anyway, but maybe if she’s in the mood we might in the next week or so.

So things are going well here in Steel City. Better than expected and we’re doing all right. I hope everyone else is having a good friday and things are slow so I’ll at least leave a lot of notes, if not post another entry. Until then… take care.

Peter

I’m really glad to hear that things are going well. 🙂 It must be nice, finally working in a place that doesn’t drive you nuts!!
