A little of everything…
It’s been an interesting week, and one that has kept me away from the computers and hence the diary for a while. I wanted to come online on Wednesday and Thursday to update with a few entries, but a bad stomach flu had other plans for my day off. I spent 90% of Wednesday barfing up a storm and not able to keep anything down. A strict diet of toast and soup brothe that day wasn’t very fun… but I got over it about 40 hours later. Even if I was feeling all right, I wouldn’t have been able to do anything with the kids. It was too cold to take Ethan and Jonathan out to do anything, because the windchill was hovering around -15 to as low as -21… way too cold to take the kids out.
So because of weather and work, I’ve been indoors quite a bit this week but that’s all right. Work is going well as can be expected but a bad day here is still ten times better than any good day I had at the previous center. Still no complaints from yours truely. I used a bit of my sick time to play a little Warcraft, but also spent a lot of it resting and watching television. Yesterday Chris and I had a chance to see a new movie. We watched the new Tony Jaa martial arts film titled “The Protector” which was about a man and his elephant. The plot was a tad thin, but the action and fights were off the charts. Tony Jaa is the next Jackie Chan/Jet Li and will be a superstar very soon. His physical ability and fights are some of the best martial arts stuff I’ve seen in a while. This movie was a lot better than his last film “Ong Bak” since his character while tough and able to kick ass wasn’t indestructable and got his ass handed to him a few times in the film as well. Made for some interesting fights and what not. Basically the shit for martial arts fans. If you’re not into the genre, this would be a complete bore for ya…
Speaking of movies, we managed to also see “The Persuit of Happyness”, that new movie starring Will Smith. I wasn’t too impressed with it myself. Smith was impressive in his role, but you can’t really get into a movie that is so predictable. You knew where this was going so it made watching the filler in the middle a little boring. Leah kinda felt the same way about it as well, and it was just average at best. Chris wants to go see a movie on Monday cause he has passes to see a free movie on Monday, and this coming Monday is the last day before they expire so he’s dying to see something. I’d love to check out the new movie titled “Smokin’ Aces” that releases in North America today, but I’m not sure if I’m going to have the time to do it. I’m working that day, so the last thing I would want to do is work all day and then hardly spend any time with Leah and the kids and just bolt for a movie afterwards. Doesn’t seem very nice… at least that is how I would feel if Leah did the same thing to me.
It’s been almost two months since Leah and I packed up the family and moved to Ontario. We haven’t killed each other yet, and everything seems all right. She likes her new job and ditto for me… so things could be better, but they could a hell of a lot worse too. Mom is planning a visit in early April for easter, which Leah is excited about. With our new location being closer to Tennessee… we will see my parents a lot more than we used to on the island. I’m planning to make a trip south myself, but not sure what time of year I should attempt that. I’m thinking mid-summer would be cool… late June or early July. Might have to talk to my parents about that to see what they think. The problem is however that Leah doesn’t have any vacation time to work with right now, while my company is providing me with two weeks to work with for this calendar year. So what I might do is take the kids with me and give Leah a week of rest without us around. So even when working, it’s still a break cause there’s no kids to take care of afterwards. I think she’d really love a break like that…
But stuff like that is far, far away and I’ll burn those bridges when I get to them. For now I have small stuff to worry about and I’ll take care of them and worry about the rest later. The good news is things are well, writing is coming along and I might finally have another weekend off coming soon… so things are up the up and up. Hope everyone else is having a good friday and I’ll be around!

I’m glad the writing is going well… I was wondering how your novel is coming along. I’ve heard of Tony Jaa. I like martial arts films when they’re not too sadistic.
