49 and loving it!
This is not a drill… someone turned 49 a day ago!
It’s true; Peter is now one year away from half a century.
To be fair, I have been rocking my 40’s… and look damn fine for my age!
Getting back on track… I had a pretty decent birthday yesterday as well! I was up late the night before, working on a novel so I never actually went to bed until 5am. I slept in till about 1pm, and then started my day. To start off this glorious birthday, I made pancakes for brunch and ate them while watching the latest episode of HBO’s new series “The Penguin”, which is a spinoff from The Batman movie that came out a few years ago. I loved the movie, so it’s no surprise that I am loving this spinoff series. Farrell is killing it as the infamous Batman villain, and this week’s episode was killer.
After my late brunch, I spend most of the afternoon working on the new book and watching football shows that went over this weekend’s games. Just after 4pm, I got messages from Kat’s mom. She was having a craving, which is normal since she’s seven months along, and the big craving she has with this pregnancy is meatballs and mashed potatoes from Ikea. I wanted to hang out with the girls today, so I happily accepted the invite and got to have dinner with the girls. Kat had a Poutine, but Emma and Charlotte had meatballs and mash with mom and I. This is at least the tenth time we hit Ikea this year, but I had fun and there was no one else I’d rather spend my birthday with. It was really nice have some time with the girls on my big day.
After the girls were put to bed, I went home and have been working on the book ever since. I’m making progress but I am planning to take a break as National Novel Writing Month (aka NaNoWriMo) is just around the corner. This will be the 19th year in a row I’ve participated in this literary marathon, where we write 50,000 new words in a single month. I’ve successfully finished my goal every time but one year, and I plan to successfully win this year too. I’ve picked a great project to work on this November, and look forward to writing my ass off again. I plan to use this site to post updates and push myself to work harder.
So, that’s what I’ve been up to lately. Another birthday has come and is gone, and I’m up another level. This also means the year is two months and change from being over. Is is just me or has this year simply flew by? We only a week away from the big election as well, and I am definitely going to be posting some entries on that as we approach the big day. Basically what I’m saying is I am going to try again to update more often, and this time I’ll try to make it stick.
