The De-Santafication process is nearly complete!
Yes, we spent the weekend un-decorating. *sad sigh* We got the lion’s share of it done on Saturday, did a little more yesterday and today I will finish it up since there wasn’t a substitute job for me. I have been going in anyway hoping to pick up a job for a late call in, but that hasn’t been working out. I spend the day either in the media center volunteering, aka finding something to do on my own for them, or hanging out in Dennis’ room. Either way, after a while, I am just trying to stay awake! So today I am home to clean up and get caught up on chores.
It was a strange Christmas for us. We kept busy and never stopped decorating until Christmas Eve thanks to a 30% off outside decorations at Target. Yay! lol. Steven was the only kid at home and he just spent the night and was gone Christmas night. Then once again it was just the two of us and the anticlimax started setting in. We managed to keep our Christmas spirit up though with a glut of Christmas movies! In fact we are still finishing up a couple left on our saved list on TV! I had no idea there were so many Christmas movies out there, but thanks to the Hallmark and LMN stations, I’m pretty sure we have pretty much seen most of them! LOL!
And while our old Rottie Jasmine seems to be on an upswing, Alley Cat is not. She still eats and is as annoying as always with her constant crying (demanding attention, food, or to go out…she really is rude but that’s nothing new at all! lol) but she is losing weight and not looking so great. The tumor on her lip seems to bleed alot now too and it’s obvious we won’t have her much longer. Jasmine on the other hand, now that she stays on the main floor instead of struggling upstairs, can now handle getting outside and walks pretty well. And God knows HER appetite is still strong! She is about the best food beggerer there is! LOL!
And once again we had to accept the fact that this year will most likely not be the year we get out of this place. So defeating. We are between a rock and a hard place though. We can’t afford the mortgage but we also can’t afford the loss we would take if we sold the place as is. But while we are paying the mortgage, we can’t afford the major repairs needed to get the price we need to afford to move! Can we all say "vicious circle"?
So we’ll just keep going. It’ll all work out someday! But for right now, I have to finish up the De-Santafication process. Oh! And Dennis put up curtain rods in the kitchen yesterday so I am hoping I can finish up the valances I am making! Remember all the material I bought last year for the house? Well, just in case, I can’t turn down an opportunity to remind you of my incredible bargain of getting material for curtains for the whole house for only $75 or something like that. And just in case you have forgotten, here’s a picture of the material.
The flowered material is what’s going up in the kitchen. Here’s a close-up:
You can barely see it in this picture, and I didn’t notice it at first, but the green matches perfectly with the wall in the family room! Since the kitchen, which is pale yellow, is open to the family room, the blues greens and yellow all match together and help "the flow" so it looks like it’s all separate but together…you know? You care? Dennis doesn’t but says he does! LOL!
Of course, once they’re up, I’ll be sure and post a picture. I know you’re all looking forward to that! LOL!
Anyway, I hope everyone is recovering from the holidays and have a wonderful January:)
Have fun sewing, I look forward to seeing the finished product. Housing market is bad now huh! Really bad. Builders everywhere are backing out of deals. Hopefully come Spring there will be an upswing? I’ll keep my fingers crossed for ya’ll.

That flowered material is beautiful! I love the colors & design in it. I am looking forward to seeing pictures of the finished project. 🙂 Yup, you guys sure are in a vicious cycle. Jasmine & Alley are lucky babies to have you & Dennis to care for them in their old age. 🙂 Love & Hugs, Val

Sorry to hear this year is not your year for moving out of town. At least, you get to enjoy all those upgrades you’ve done so far a little longer. 🙂
