My Fantasy Man…

First and foremost, and which goes without even saying, the most wonderful man in my life is my husband Dennis. He is tall and handsome, a dedicated father, teacher and coach, a baseball FANATIC, and absolutely the love of my life. But as of yesterday, there is a new man, or should I say, fantasy man in my life.

Last Christmas, in deference to his baseball fanaticism, he got a baseball video game. In this game he is always playing as the Boston Red Sox. Being from Massachusetts, he is one of those faithful die hard fans of the Red Sox, although he keeps up on all the teams and watches other teams play. If the Red Sox are not playing, he always cheers on the ABY team. If anyone out there is unfamiliar with the most infamous rivalry in baseball, ABY stands for "ANYONE but the Yankees"! LOL!

Anyway, he really loves this baseball video game and it has provided many hours of fun for him, especially when the boys are here since it is something they all enjoy together. But when they left this year and Dennis found himself with a bit of time on his hands, he started playing this game alot more. He kept telling me it was because he was getting close to the ‘next level’. I have absolutely no interest in video games, but if it made him happy, it was ok with me. I just went into the next room and played in my kitchen and I was happy too.

That’s exactly what I was doing yesterday when Dennis excitedly called me in to see the "new guy" up at bat on his video game. I kinda rolled my eyes but went in to see. I did a double take when I saw Dennis’ name on the screen! But my mouth dropped open when the character turned around and it actually LOOKED like him too! Beard and all! I just started laughing and asked him how he did that! Evidently, when he got to this ‘next level’ he was trying so hard to get to, he got to create his own ballplayer right down to the name and physical characteristics! And he was so tickled pink to be on THE team! LOL!

Of course, the ballplayer he created was less than half his age, 4 inches taller, and I bet under that cap his hair was a bit fuller, but hey!, this IS a fantasy game! So I just had to sit down and see how this ‘other’ Dennis would do. And since I don’t play video games, it is my job to heckle….uh, I mean ‘help’ from the sidelines! And don’t think I missed one single opportunity to offer my ‘advice’! And wasn’t he proud as a peacock when he got not only the "Play of the Game" but also "Player of the Game"! And as much as I heckled him, didn’t I get offended and call the announcers bad (very bad) names though, when they DIDN’T recognize his skill and expertise! LOL! I’m just glad my real man doesn’t play professional baseball since I think I would not be able to keep my mouth shut and would embarrass him terribly!

It was a fun afternoon for us with a lot of laughter over this new ‘fantasy man’ of ours! LOL! I just CAN’T wait for the boys to come back next year and realize THEIR DAD IS ON THE RED SOX TEAM!! YEAH!!!

Thanks for your note! It was more like arriving near Buckingham Palace. The ride started on the road that leads to the palace and we cycled past Windsor Castle. No royalty was on show. At least I did not see any, but then, you could slap me between the eyes with one and I would not recognize them…

My kids have the football games where they can name their own players. They always have one player named after themselves. Very cool! 😀

HAHAHA! Sigh, how is Dennis doing? The annual “choke” is starting to look like it’s coming back yet again. :-(((
