A cold wet rainy day

Even Jasmine didn’t want to walk much today, it was just too cold and wet for her. She had a hard time getting up the front steps since cold makes her legs stiff poor thing. But the cold rain was supposed to be ice so Dennis’ school was on a 2 hour delay. Wow, 2 extra hours of sleep did wonders for both of us! I am on the last push to get my drapes done for the sliders today. They really gave me fits yesterday but I finally got past the problem and am now working on the tops and can hopefully get them up today. I had to rip the seams out so many times I was beginning to worry that I was ruining the fabric so it was with great relief that I was finally able to hem them all around.

Tomorrow I go into school with my honey. No sub job, just helping him get ready for next semester. Now that I know my way around the school, I can really help him out with switching out books and laminating and maybe if everyone sees me around, it might remind them they need to ask me to sub for them! That’s how I got my last job:)

I do have news about ‘the boy’ though.

This is our 21 yr old Steven that we had to throw out last summer. He has been in an apartment with a friend and the friend’s girlfriend, but they broke up leaving Steven and the friend which was a better situation for them. The friend quit blowing all his money on her and the two boys started bringing food into the house and eating better. Steven looked absolutely skeletal when we saw him for early Christmas and he was worrying us, but by Christmas he looked healthy and we were relieved.

But now the ex-girlfriend wants the boys out and her boyfriend to move in with her. Steven showed up to ‘visit’, but then said he had bad news and told us what was going on. I asked him straight out where he was going if he could get off the lease and he looked embarrassed and grinned as he said he kinda had to move back in and pay us rent instead while he saved up to move out again. I told him ‘fat chance!’ but I was only kidding and he knew it. Damn these kids, they know we will always be there for them! LOL! He knows he needs to keep his job (which he actually likes, thank God!) and I think his attitude is a bit more mature than it was when he had to leave so it’s ok that he comes back. We are stuck here anyway and we can use the rent money! Oh I just thought of this! Now HE gets to help Dennis get firewood! Yippee! I might just make him some cookies for that! LOL!

But he’s not moving back in just yet. He needed to talk to the landlord and they needed to run a credit check on the boyfriend to see if they can just switch out the names on the lease. These six huge bags of his stuff he just happened to have with him isn’t him moving in…just wanted them ‘out the way’. Hmmm….methinks he was a bit too confident about being able to come back! LOL!  That was a few days ago though and we have not heard from him since. It doesn’t take that long to run a credit check so perhaps it is the ex-girlfriend who is leaving and not Steven and his friend after all. The lease runs out in 3 months though so we’ll see if it’s sooner or later that he moves back in.

I KNEW we should have moved last summer!

My cousin KatLady posted that Rascal Flatts was appearing in concert across the street from her. It reminded me of when we were going to concerts and we saw them. It was wonderful and we ran into bunches of Dennis’ kids from school…and their parents too! Great great time!

This picture of one of the groups of Dennis’ kids we met there always makes me laugh because they were sitting behind us and we didn’t know it. Then Dennis stood up and all of a sudden we heard them all yelling his name. Dennis turned around and everyone was looking at him so he held his hands up like he was the one on stage and made them all laugh. And if a parent spotted us, they’d call their kid on their cellphone and direct them to us! There is no escape from these kids! LOL! And just check out the diversity of the crowd. All ages from seniors right down to little kids all enjoying the same music! Amazing:)

This is the group that sings ‘our song’…The Broken Road. And I love the line from another song about a husband reassuring his wife that "you don’t look a day over fast cars and freedom…" *blissful sigh* How romantic!

Here we are enjoying a break between shows. Not the best shots of us but oh well, to each other, we don’t look a day over fast cars and freedom!

Ok, that’s enough rambling for today…back to my drapes! Wish me luck…

We’re hoping none of our kids ever have to move back in – but you never know:)

Mommy looks a wee bit tipsy… 0:)

We’re moving to our farm in a few years, and we’ve warned the kids we will no build extra bedrooms in the new house! *L* Of course they can stay in the guest cabin, but they don’t like it there, soooo. *S*
