Working
None of the following is likely true. It is an unfinished idea I quickly jotted down, and just as quickly lost interest in. It is based on a single first-hand account of a view of the world of someone who likely has a skewed view of the world. It is not based on exhaustive empirical evidence but it exists anyway. Such observations may reside in some book somewhere so I’m not claiming this as an original thought.
I’ve often heard sleep be described as the most important event in your life because you spend one third of your life in this peculiar state. One can not function nor even live without it so it is regarded as incredibly important. But it is what happens while you are not asleep that can affect how much sleep you do get. Work is arguably more important than sleep because one often spends more time at work than they do sleeping. Furthermore, work can even influence how much sleep one gets. Which is why one must evaluate how they feel about their work.
Happiness in a workplace is dependent on the level of at least four factors. Depending on the degree of each of these three factors one can find out a lot about what type of worker one is. Actually, are you finding out these qualitys or do these qualities present themselves under certain conditions…I wonder.
The factors are compatiblity with coworkers, ease of work, and interest in the product or service the company provides and interest in the type of work being done. It used to only be three but I had to split off interest in product or service and type of work being done from a single category, called interest in work, because one might hold a job title that has nothing to do witht he product or servie provided like janitors, document control personnel, chemists or metrologists.
The scales of each can be easily defined; compatiblity with coworkers can be defined as incompatible on one end and compeletly compatible on the other end. Ease of work can be describe as easy or difficult. Interest in product or services varies between no interest in all to primary interest. Interest in type of work being lays between no interest at all to life passion.
There is no further description on these settings. One must define where they belong between these definitions using their own criteria. Much like when one watches a movie with an ambiguous ending and the director dies before canonizing the flick the moviegoer must come up with an explanation on their own, choose their own ending. Wether it is described as a percentage, a number between one and ten, or a word or phrase that describes where between those two endcaps a person feels they belong is up to the individual. This method will provide the most genuine results.
The person following this practice must also define which ends of each spectrum are the positive ends. Those who like challenges may favor the difficulte end of the ease spectrum whereas the laid back type may prefer the easy end. The incompatible level of the co-worker compatiblitiy level may be more appealing to the loner type than the teamwork contributor. Simply put, one needs to look at these criteria define them on their terms, find out where the fit between them, analyze the results and act on their conclusion.
