Meant For Sunday

I intended to post this last night, but I didn’t.  I think I fell asleep.  Maybe I just forgot?  Either way, I still wanted to post it and I was too lazy to amend it to reflect that I’m actually posting it today, on a Monday.

It is currently 67 degrees inside.  For the life of me, I can’t explain why in the hell I am freezing.  I just closed the front door and it hasn’t helped all that much.  I’m tempted to turn the heater on at this point.

I definitely don’t want to complain about having lost the 60 pounds that I’ve lost since August 2022, but at the same time, when I weighed over 300 pounds, I was NEVER cold.  Now that I’m cold seemingly all the time, I hate it.  I’m not used to it.  I was never accustomed to wearing jackets or hooded sweatshirts, not even as a kid, and yet, here I am now.  Still, I shouldn’t complain about the cold all that much, being that in a matter of weeks, the temperatures will undoubtedly go up and I’ll miss the cold temperatures that I’m currently complaining about in this entry.  From what I’m understanding, there’s rain in the forecast for the coming week, so not only will it probably continue to be cold outside, but it’s going to be rainy too.  Again, I recognize that I shouldn’t be complaining.  It’s going to be hot outside before I realize it.

Speaking of cold, the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics took place this weekend.  This is an annual event where sponsored participants take a dive into some ridiculously cold water, all in support of the Special Olympics and its athletes.  People donate money to these participants to support the Special Olympics and in turn, the participants willingly hop into some cold body of water.  I couldn’t do it.  If I’m cold in 67-degree temperatures above water, there’s no way I’m going to deliberately jump into potentially freezing water outside.  I’ll support the cause all day and I happened to throw in my donation this year, as I’ve done for the last couple years.  I assume that the various Polar Plunge events across the country went well this year and God willing, we’ll all be around next year to do it all over again, whether some of us are jumping into cold water or contributing money to the cause.  I’m not hopping into any water, but I’ll have my wallet ready to contribute financially.

The week that was really wasn’t all that exciting.  Everything was pretty status quo.  I worked.  I did my overtime.  I got some things done.  I’ll pretty much be repeating the entire process tomorrow and for the rest of the coming week.  As I tend to say, work is work.  It just is.  It’s really not all that exciting.

I didn’t do much gaming this weekend.  Still haven’t taken that orange GameCube apart yet.

The 2025 Major League Baseball season started for the Cincinnati Reds, as well as the majority of the league, this week.  As of this writing, the Reds are 1-2.  While I’m not necessarily in panic mode after just three games played thus far, even with such a small sample size, the Reds are already playing losing baseball.  I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the remaining 159 games have in store.  Still, I remain optimistic.  Perhaps, cautiously optimistic.

Here’s to another week of fun and festivities.

I remain hopeful.
