Lack Of Electricity And Productivity

Mom died six years ago.  In saying that, Mother’s Day tends to have little, to no, value for me now.  Today would mark the fifth Mother’s Day that I’ve had to endure without her.  That might sound a bit dramatic and I don’t mean it to sound that way.  Even when she was alive, it wasn’t as though my siblings and I went all out to celebrate the day and her with it.  She wasn’t really the type to hype it up anyway and we sort of followed her lead in that regard.  I guess at this point and after all these years since she passed, I just miss being able to call her and have a conversation with her, no matter how mundane and seemingly meaningless that conversation would be.  Needless to say, I miss Mom and this annual Mother’s Day always makes it that much more glaring that she’s gone.

I didn’t do much today, though that’s pretty much typical fare for me when it comes to Sunday.  I had intended to go into the office for a few hours late this morning, but Kim had told me that the building was having problems with not only its internet and network connectivity, but also with the electricity in general.  I guess the power had actually gone out for a few minutes, effectively rendering the office and any of its occupants relatively useless.  Everything we do at work is done via computer and network, so obviously the lack of network connectivity and electricity tend to put a damper on things and ensure that nothing gets done.  So, with my not going into the office even for those few hours, I was relegated to staying home and returning to the gaming world.  The electricity at home was working just fine.

I finally installed Stellar Blade (PS5), though as is my usual behavior after I install games, I haven’t played it yet.  The last game I installed and have yet to play is Rise of the Ronin (PS5).  Yes, that backlog continues to grow.  I’ll play these games eventually.

I bought my first game on Steam for play on my Steam Deck.  It took me a few months and I think I spent well under $10 for it too.  I bought Fight Angel, which reminds me heavily of the Dead or Alive series.  I haven’t gotten around to customizing any of the characters in the game.  I chose to spend much of my time just getting acclimated to the fight engine and I think I’m getting the hang of it.

I imagine that the electricity and network issues will have been resolved by the time I return to the office at 5am tomorrow morning.  It’ll be pretty much be business as usual next week, though I imagine that in the event that the power and network issues persist tomorrow, I’ll have to write my notes by hand onto paper.  I have excellent penmanship, so that doesn’t bother me.  I actually don’t mind the physical act of handwriting, as old-fashioned as that might sound.  I hope that at the very least, that the lights are on.  I can write things by hand all day.  Without light, I’m not writing a damn thing.  At that point, the best I can do is fall asleep.  Now, if she were around and it happened to be dark, there’s no limit to the things that I could do to her.  Yes, I mean that in a very sexual capacity.

That’s all I have for now.  If I’m up to it, maybe I’ll do some writing here during the week.  We’ll see how that goes, though I make no guarantees.
