Another Christmas In The Books

I did not ask for the gift you see pictured above.  Some weeks ago, I had casually mentioned to Kim that I was looking to upgrade the container that I use to carry my business cards.  She apparently handled the rest.  Now that business card holder right there, she is a beauty.

The other gifts I received, while I’m appreciative for all of them, weren’t quite noteworthy enough for me to take pictures of.  I figure, if you’ve seen one gift card, you’ve seen them all.

As much as I tend to find giving gift cards to be lazy and impersonal, I will admit that I was guilty of giving out my fair share of gift cards this year.  Sometimes it can’t be avoided.  It still shows effort, but I tend to want to hold myself to a higher standard.  Maybe I’m better at giving birthday gifts?  I don’t know.

I hope that those of you reading this had an enjoyable Christmas.

Mine was quiet.  Kept family away, which is what made it quiet.  Opened gifts.  Ate a little bit, because I still don’t have much of an appetite these days.  Sugar in the form of cookies and candy.  Protein in the form of prime rib.  Liquid nourishment in the forms of water, regular Pepsi, and some iced coffee concoction from the local Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

Strangely enough, I forgot to take my diabetes and other medications this morning.  I had to compensate by taking all my medications at dinner.  I’m fine otherwise and seemed to do all right all day.  I’m glad that my diabetes remains under control.

Dinner should process nicely and I’ll be able to get to sleep and stay asleep tonight without complication.

Got in some time playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and handled business against what we like to refer to as the “Christmas noobs”, which are people who weren’t able to get the game until Christmas Day.  Otherwise, didn’t do a whole lot of gaming in general.  Meant to install Astro Bot, but didn’t.  I know it happens to be the Game of the Year for 2024, but that did little to motivate me to play it, much less install it.  I guess I don’t flock to platformers like I once did.

Finished the night watching that Christmas classic, “Violent Night”.  I picked it at random in making the decision that I wanted to watch a different Christmas movie this year.  Normally, I would have settled with watching “Bad Santa”, which I absolutely love, but Violent Night was the call this year.  I do not regret it one bit.  Now, I will say this.  Violent Night is NOT a kids’ movie.  Parental discretion is definitely advised.  Still, it was a good time just the same.

In the end, this year’s Christmas was all right.  Can’t say I’m looking forward to next year’s Christmas, but I figure, it’ll be another 12 months before we reach that point again.

By the way and for random trivia, Mom’s favorite Christmas movie was 1989’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

Having said that, I suppose it would be only fitting that I conclude this entry with the following line from said movie…

Merry Christmas to all and to all, a good night.
