All Work And Some Play
Today would be the second day of my work week after my return from my recent working vacation and so far, so good, in that I’ve managed to maintain my streak of productivity. I really believe that I’ve hit the ground running and I’m still keeping things moving. My reports are coming together and I’m maintaining the level of quality that I have come to expect of myself as far as the work that I’m producing. Maybe that recent vacation was something I needed, in that it helped me to refocus my efforts and rethink how I work and do things. While I’m not clamoring for another vacation, I’m hoping that my newfound focus continues to guide me and keep me motivated to stay on my professional grind.
Having said that, I’ve also found myself gradually returning to the gaming realm. It seems that for the past few years, gaming has really slowed down for me. I know that I haven’t been buying as many games as I used to. This is not due to a lack of the financial resources to do so, as much as I think that the number of quality games has diminished drastically, to where I’m just not playing as much as I once did. Last week, The Last Of Us: Part II Remastered for the PS5 was released and that would be the first game that I’ve purchased this calendar year. I haven’t installed the game as of this writing, but it is on the game shelf. I’ll get to it at some point. I wasn’t too deep into the story on the PS4 version to where it won’t be painful to restart the game all over on the PS5. I did the same thing when Ghost Of Tsushima released on the PS5 a few years ago.
This week, we have Tekken 8 launching. I’ve never been a huge Tekken fan, so this could be one of those game purchases that I make just for the sake of owning the game and adding it to my collection. My buddy Jay was looking to do the same thing. This isn’t to say that I won’t play the game. It’s just that I’m not dying to play this latest entry in the Tekken series. Truthfully, I know that I need to get back into both Street Fighter 6, as well as Mortal Kombat 1. Clearly, I’m into fighting games. Speaking of fighting games, I would have loved another entry in the Dead Or Alive series and no, I’m not talking about another volleyball game featuring the Dead Or Alive characters. No, I’d prefer another full-fledged fighting game, that seemingly elusive, Dead Or Alive 7. A boy can dream, I suppose.
Work and gaming. That’s pretty much my life again at this point and I’m not complaining about any of it. I know that I could be stressed out by work and everything that comes with it, but I’m not. We’re feeling pretty good about things and it feels good returning to some state of normalcy all around. As long as the electricity remains on, life will be all right.
I loved The Last of Us: Part II. I may buy it and install it on my son’s PS5 just to do it again….
