Must be out of my ever lovin’ mind!!!
I decided last week to do some purging of closets and storage spaces in my home and shed…..was starting to get a little crowded with "stuff" that I probably will never use. Besides I am at a place in my life, once again where I feel the need to do…..something?….not sure what yet but God is definitely speaking to me in a soft quiet voice and I’m trying to "hear" what He has to say without much luck so far lol but I do know that something big is coming for me and it probably has to do with changes….I HATE change…..I am absolutely, positively a creature of habit But I do know that change is both inevitable and most of the times good so I have to go with the flow and adapt!! (But, Lord….I don’t have to like it !!) Anywho…..the purging of stuff is something I needed to do so I have got my storage shed done and 25 super big, overstuffed trash bags later, it’s lookin" purdy spiffy!! So then on Thursday I decided to work in my room and do my closet, dressers (yes I said dressers…plural…..I have ALOT of clothes…..I love clothes….shoes….jewelry…perfume….ya know…..girly stuff! LOL) and even the totes I have stored under my bed….well I got one dresser done….and was thinking about the upcoming weekend and the beginning of NASCAR season when my brain went haywire and I decided to host a party for yesterday!!!! Only 2 days later!!! Must be nutz or sumthin…..so I stopped that and begin planning my "Thank God NASCAR is Back Bash" . I decided on Saturday because most people would rather be home in the comfort of their own couch and TV for the BIG race today, but the Nationwide series race was run yesterday so I thought it would be a good time to have it. Had to go online and create invitations to email and then I also sent some via text, and also planned my menu and decorations…I have a pretty nice NASCAR collectible collection so that was no problem….I just used what I had. Friday was cleaning day and shopping day. I am so blessed, I have a neighbor who works at JTM….she is a shop manager of her shift and whenever they have overruns or something is messed up….for whatever reason, she offers it to her employees and whatever is left over she brings home….she donates it to families she knows needs it or gives it to a food bank or something like that…anyway she often offers me stuff and I love her for it….it really helps out on the food bill and is really good stuff!! I had some breads she had given me the day before….Rye buns….herb buns and plain hoagie buns so I decided to do a platter like Subway has…I used to manage one so I know how they do them…..I fixed the tuna salad and chicken salad and made a big platter of those…..I shredded lettuce and sliced tomatoes and onions and put them on a platter along with pickles for fixin’s. My neighbor, Shari had also given me some meatballs so I tossed them in the crockpot and added some bbq sauce for a hot dish to go with the cold subs. So all-in-all I didn’t have to spend a bunch of money…..the tuna was on special this week and I always have chicken so the main foods were taken care of. I also served 3 kinds of chips….a huge fruit tray( fresh whole pineapples were on sale this week….$2!!!! bought 2 plus I splurged on a quarter of watermelon since I saved so much on the pineapples….I always have apples, oranges, tangerines and grapes at home so not much expense there either) with yummy fruit dip and caramel dip for the apples…I make the best caramel dip and it is super easy….and made and decorated cupcakes. My colors were red, black and white so I got red plastic plates, simple everyday white napkins and of course….red Solo cups….I lift you up….let’s have a party!!! LOL But the cups were filled with sodas and mocktails since none of us drink and do not need alcohol to have a good time anymore Thank God!! So I spent all of Friday evening making up the platters and baking and decorating the cupcakes….white fluffy frosting with black and red edible glitter and I piped on "Go Smoke! #14, one letter for each cupcake and arranged them on a platter. All I had to do yesterday was shower and get dressed (my Tony Stewart shirt of course!!) and set up the buffet and we were all set. We had a good time and a good turnout for it being so last minute…about 20 people showed up and it was a good race!! Fun memories were made and that, to me, is what life is all about. Making good memories to call on when life ISN’T so good!!! Gonna just kick back today and rest….worship and then watch the BIG race!! I’ll get back to my purging of closets tomorrow!! Well that’s it for now….gonna go eat breakfast and have some God time before the race starts!!!
Nice to get some clutter out. I slowly work on it. Love that free food, everything helps. Enjoy the race.
