We can’t stop…

I have hired a floor sander for the weekend. This is going to be an adventure for me. I have never done this before. I need to buy a centre punch to bang down the sticking up nails tomorrow, or apparently I will rip up the sanding belts on the heads. I’m told it makes a foul mess and there will be dust everywhere. I have suggested that the dragon take the boy out somewhere for the day. Exciting isn’t it. I will try and do some before and after pictures.

It’s all moving forward with downstairs renovations now. I have a friend coming to re-plaster the walls, which will be great. I am hoping he can teach me how it’s done.

The leaves are starting to turn brown. I hate when that happens.

I have just finished book 3 of Murakami’s 1Q84. I recommend it. I read it on my kindle. Luckily, just as I ran out of reading material, a second hand book place opened just over the road from my office. It’s great, I bought five strange books already.

It was revealed this week in the Independent that there were over 300,000 attempts (which were blocked) to access adult websites from Parliament computers last year. That apparently works out at something like 850 attempts each day to view porn. The irony in this is that The PM is currently trying to force service providers to block adult sites by default. I particularly liked the fact that the report paid special attention to the fact that a website called “Out of Town Affairs” which apparently caters for those looking for horizontal action whilst away from the spouse.

I want to talk about Miley Cyrus. I know this is a bit controversial, but I think she’s pretty cool. What she does is not really my sort of thing; too old for that, but I think she’s smart and she knows what she’s doing, even when she’s raising eyebrows at award ceremonies. Anyway, her song “We can’t stop”, is not something that really interests me, but it has been covered by Post Modern Jukebox, and I think it’s really worth a listen, so here it is.

That is so funny about Parliament members needing porn 🙂 Why should it be blocked? They are not kids….
