Yesterday
Yesterday after the meeting, I went home and after Diane had spent some time with her father, she came back to the house and we went out to eat together. I turned my GPS on and looked at what was available in this area. One of the suggestions was a small Thai restaurant which was within WALKING distance. {Hmmm, it occurs to me that it might be Vietnamese, rather than Thai.} Anyway, because it was within walking distance, we decided to try it. It turned out to be a very basic restaurant. For example, the tables were covered with a clear, heavy plastic top and the menus were under this. However, the food was excellent. Diane got something with noodles and pork, and I tasted hers and the pork was wonderful. I got something with rice and beef and lots of lovely vegetables which had obviously been cooked just before the plate was brought to the table! I picked up their take-out menu for future reference!
Because the restaurant WAS within walking distance, we walked. Two comments about this. First, seems that there is possibly going to be another hip replacement in my future. On the short walk, we had to stop several times to let the pain in my hip subside just as happened with my left hip before the surgery. Secondly, I slept amazingly well last night and for ELEVEN hours! Part of this was, I know, the mental relief I got from the very positive meeting at the rehab place yesterday, but I am sure also the walk contributed also to it. And to put the eleven hours in perspective, I normally and comfortably sleep between six and seven hours! And this morning, after I had been up about an hour, my stomach started yelling for food {which is normal} but also my knees felt very shaky which is something that only happens when I forget to eat and go a long time without food. I feel a lot better now because I interrupted this deathless prose to eat!
Give thanks for unknown blessings already on their way.

Wow, how awesome to live within walking distance of something. That’s the trouble with the ‘burbs—-nothing is close.

This makes me wonder what you consider walking distance. With me it wouldn’t be very far. I’m a bit jealous as I had a craving for Asian food tonight, but didn’t get it. Soon!

So glad to hear about Fred’s progress. Wish him well for me and we can’t wait to hear an update. Hope you didn’t get all that snow they had near you?

I’m so glad to hear things are going better. The restaurant meals sound so good! But Paul REFUSES to try either a Thai or a Vietnamese place! At least he still likes Chinese food….

I bet the restaurant owner would be glad to know you found him on GPS on a whim. Good advertising for him.
