Yesterday

Yesterday I actually got myself out of the house. I went to the University Mall where I planned to have my hair cut. Last time I was there, there were three salons; yesterday there was only one. And they were not very busy because I got an appointment almost immediately.

The person who cut my hair was a rather strange man whom I found a little annoying because he kept on talking to me. When I get my hair done, I prefer not to talk and I usually read. I had my Kindle out and he asked questions about it, which was fine, but when I went back to reading, he kept on talking! So, I put the Kindle away and let him talk. I am  pretty sure I will not go back to him, though, because he actually didn’t listen to much of what I said. I said I wanted it straight; it came out slightly curly which is its natural state. He did listen when I said I wanted half bangs but he parted it on the wrong side! On the other hand, however, it does look nice and it is a good cut. But then it is almost impossible to give me a bad cut since my hair is thick with a lot of natural body and waviness in it.

Our weather seems to be getting a little better. Today the high is forecast to be 39 degrees and the next two days are supposed to be in the low 40’s. Of course, since this IS Vermont, we will have more cold and snow, but I am really looking forward to a few days without it!

Nothing makes me more upset at a beauty salon than when they don’t listen to what I want. It happened the last time I went (Tuesday). Enjoy your weekend ahead!

When my mother and I moved to the South the culture of “southern hospitality” felt very invasive. Everyone says hello, offers to help with things, and generally has a habit of getting into your psychological space. After 12 years it still gets on my nerves sometimes. We’re having a warm spell in the mid 70s this weekend, and I want to lay in the grass and giggle with joy.

For years I never went to any beauty salon because I absolutely HATE to have them rattle on to me. I know they aren’t paying attention to cutting my hair while they’re a-yappin! I do like my current hairdresser, though. She has her shop in her home and I’ve actually come to be friends with her, so at least the stuff we talk about is stuff of interest to both of us! hugs, Nicky

I see you can’t put down your kindle either. Enjoy!

I’m not much of a talker at the beauty salon either, but for some reason all the best hairdressers seem to be talkers.

I’m like you… I like to get stuff done without the chit chat. I will get my first hair cut the end of March since I started letting it grow out. Good thing… What did you decide on the concert? I think you should go and see him, enjoy life!

He sounds like a very bad listener for such a good talker!

Oooh, I get so mad when I go to a salon and they don’t do what I asked for! Your so lucky to have thick, wavy hair! Mine used to be very thick also, but it has thinned out a lot due to the many medications. And curl? Nope, mine is straight as a board! Enjoy your warmer temps! Hugs,M

We’re both going to get a haircut today… I’ve been growing my hair out ever since we got married but I’m tired of it! (huggles)
