Yeah!

This entry is coming to you from a person who now has the use of TWO hands!

Fred took me to the appointment I had with the orthopedic doctor and it was very interesting. I got to see the X-rays done at the walk-in clinic. He showed me where the little piece of bone had chipped off. My hand was still a bit swollen and a very pretty blue-gray and yellow color where it was bruised. They cut away the original splint and I am now wearing a totally different one. With the original splint I had only the use of my fingertips but with this one, my wrist and palm are supported but I have the use of all fingers! I {of course} carried my Kindle with me to read while I was waiting and both the doctor and the nurse were very interested in it. I did a demonstration for them by downloading a sample of a couple of books {samples are free}, making the font larger and then smaller and also showing a demonstration of the use of the dictionary.

Fred has been very helpful through all this bumbling around with having the use of only one hand. He always puts away the cutlery from the dishwasher {because he knows I don’t like doing it} but while I only had the use of one hand, he has also been putting away all the dishes. The help that I have been appreciating the most is that he has cut the bagels in half so I don’t have to do them every morning. I found he had done this first the morning after I went to the walk-in clinic and came back with my right hand totally immobilized except for the tips of the fingers. I lay in bed that morning mentally wondering how to cut the bagel with the use of only one hand, and got up to find he had got the coffee pot ready where all I had to do was to press a button AND, in addition, the morning bagel was sliced ready for me to toast!

"You are not happy because you are well. You are well because you are

happy. You are not depressed because trouble has come to you, but

trouble has come to you because you are depressed. You can change

your thoughts and feelings, and then the outer things will come to

correspond, and indeed there is no other way of working."

That’s the kind of thoughtfulness that isn’t always apparent in many men, if it’s there at all! Glad to hear you now have two hands working. 😉
