Wishes

I was reading a favorite’s Things that I Need list this morning and came to the interesting conclusion that there isn’t actually anything I need!  That is a rather good thing to realize, isn’t it?

 However, I can make a list of things I would like!

  • Anything on my Amazon Wish List {Well, that’s why I make it, y’know!}
  • Someone to come in once a week and do a thorough housecleaning! I can do it, I just don’t like doing it.  However, I brought this on myself. If I had stuck to my plan of a room a day, the job would have been much less tiring…
  • All the piled up stuff on the porch sorted out and disposed of.
  • A free plane ticket to Italy.
  • Someone to help me to speak and understand Italian better. {Actually, I have a plan for getting this.}
  • A winter of very light snow which would fall every day to look pretty but be gone overnight. {Ha! Like this would happen here in Vermont!}
  • Much better health for Fred.
  • Our Dish Network fixed before next Wednesday. {Don’t get me started–I feel a rant coming on}
  • An improvement in my arthritic hip which is highly unlikely because once that stuff has started, there is no way to go but worse…
  • To lose the 10 pounds I have gained over the last two years without cutting calories or upping activity. {Hey! I never said these had to be possible! I know perfectly well that if I want to get back down to 160, I will have to eat less and move more}
  • To do a little teaching. {This came from the fun I had with the 4th grade} I am quite seriously thinking of signing up as a sub. I could walk to the local school which is a plus. The biggest drawback would be that I wouldn’t want to do any one-day subs. When I subbed after I left teaching, I found I hated one-day subs because I was a babysitter. Eventually I made it known that I was only available for three or more days.I don’t know whether this would be possible with the local schools…

Ok, time to get some real-life stuff done…

Until later….

My Dad used to get cortisone shots in his hip for his arthritis…the shots them self didn’t fell great but they helped.

One of your wishes appeals to me, having someone clean house for you. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? I’d say teaching is in your blood and that’s great, too. I can see you teaching art.

I wondered if standing in front of a class again would make you miss it… I think subbing might be a good thing. At least you can do it when you WANT to….. Love to you! ~M

When you’re done with that housecleaner, send them over here! I actually know somebody who cleans houses. Wonder how much she’d charge me. What’s on Wednesday?

there is only one way to find out about becoming a sub… call them, let them know! You never know what might happen. Good luck!

have you read daughter of time? it’s about research into richard III’s life and the propaganda put out about him after his death. i think that’s what it’s called, anyway. my parents are members of the richard III society and our family was influential in getting him onto the throne, way back when.

Ah, so many of us want to or need to lose weight. i have 10 lbs to lose if i want to be back to the weight i was 10 years ago. i’ve been at this weight or higher – actually i’m down 12 lbs from my heaviest weight a year ago – for the past 5 years. It’s a never-ending battle and i’m not about to give up fighting! And, if i lost 10 lbs i’d still have another 10 to get down to what i weighed in my 20s! So, in reality, i’m 20 lbs heavier than i should be, but if i lose 10 lbs i’ll at least be able to wear all the clothes hanging in my closet!

I’ll do your housework if you’ll bake me gingerbread!

i would be happy with someone coming in once a week to dust and clean the bathroom. i need to get off the 15pounds i gained over the last two years. maybe i’ll start using my daughter’s elliptical machine every day. have a good weekend. take care,

What about private tutoring? Or would you rather have a class? By the way I meant to ask – what happened to Nick – I thought you were taking him on again this year or did that stop in the summer?

November 25, 2006

I made a list the other day of all these things I want …and kind of came to the same conclusion.I don’t really NEED anything! LOL those sound like good wishes 🙂

You should do substitute teaching. Then, you could decide when or if you want to teach and there will be no set schedule for you.

Do you know of any home schooling groups in your area? The one we belong to occasionally hires tutors as a group if a bunch of kids are interested in studing the same subject.

Wow, there is a Stargate movie on TV tonight. I’m sure you knew about it, but I didn’t realize the whole series started with a movie! Wow.

My dear Fluffy is no more. I have changed my designation I like your list.

One day subbing is difficult…but you must remember what it was like to prepare for a sub. I spent 4-5 hours getting ready for my sub each day when I was sick. That’s how long it took me to make up things that were relevant and doable for somebody else.

Italy would be really nice. Especially when January hits… But then, Mt Etna is flaring up. Maybe Malta? Now I need to go find your Amazon list. 😉

great list! i’ll take the 10# weight loss, better health for all and the italy plane tickets. but like you, i don’t need anything…except better health.

November 26, 2006

My wish would be for some lucky children to get you for a three day sub. 🙂

November 26, 2006

well if we lived closer I’d come and clean one day a week for you but…I’m management now and I’m not sure I’m going to have one day a week to call my own. :o) take care of you

I did a lot of sub teaching when my children were little. It’s hard traveling from class to class, but after awhile, I began to know their names and became familiar with the classes so it become more than babysitting.

RYN: I’m glad you like what I’ve posted so far… I’m working on the ending now, although I’m not sure how I want it to end. We shall see. I’ll probably post a little bit more later today. 🙂

November 26, 2006

ryn: thanks. I’ve never had staples before, and I know stitches don’t really hurt to remove, so I’m just not sure what to expect with the staples. There’s just so many of them, and in areas of my body that are otherwise pretty sensitive

I hope you eventually get everything on your wish list.
