Winding Down

  • We {Jake and I} have heard as yet nothing from the first contractor who came out to see us about building the apartment for me onto Jake’s house. Saturday morning another one came out to see the place and seemed much more engaged in listening to what I want. However, the bottom line will be the price. Nothing can be decided or done without that. I have been driving around looking at apartments in this area. The one-bedroomed ones I have looked at are about half of what I pay in rent right now and mostly smaller.  {And have carpets in the bedroom! I HATE carpets!}
  • This is my last week here. Really, it is only, half a week since I leave on Wednesday afternoon. This evening I am going to take OD diarist VeronicaCorningstone out for dinner. Well, actually. since she is coming to pick me up. she is taking me out bu, t I am paying!
  • This morning the cats had paws under my bedroom door at 7 30  rattling it to tell me they were hungry! To be fair to them, most mornings I am up around 5!  They are both coming to sit on my lap occasionally now although they don’t stay as long with me as they do with Jake. Also, both of them are using the cat-tree I got them quite a lot. It is funny to see them running up the side to get the top perch.
  • Yesterday we went out for brunch with one of Jake’s friends and her partner. The place we ate was in Raleigh and we were fortunate to get a parking place right in front of the restaurant. The food was excellent and I enjoyed meeting his friends a lot.
  • Starting tomorrow, I will be in going-back-home mode.  I have enjoyed my visit a lot but am also looking  forward to going back to my own home and my own things. And I know Jake will be pleased to get his home back to himself. {I know this because we are very alike and enjoy our own company!}

The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone. ~Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers)

I hope the contractor has a good price!

I enjoy visiting, but then the itch to get home sets in…

I’m the opposite, I like carpets! I think that houses without carpets here would be too cold in Winter!

I would like carpets if I had no children and no pets. Otherwise, hardwoods are a must! Home is home…we all like being there 🙂

Here is to hoping you get a good price. (sips coffee) I know hard floors are healthier and if I could I would have them. In the mean time I’ll enjoy my soft, warm dust mite infested carpets. 🙂

It’s exciting about the possible new apartment. I’ll cross my fingers for you.

I hate carpets also. The first thing I did when I moved into my late parents home was rip out the carpets. I hope you find what you want or are able to add on. I hope at least one of my sons wants me to live with him when the time comes. 😉

I hope you can find what you need, and that it’s reasonable. When you think about how dirty carpets get, and people suffering from allergies, it seems amazing that apartments are still prone to putting in wall-to-wall carpeting now that there are so many affordable and different floor options available that stand up to traffic.

I hope that it turns out to be affordable to have an apartment built onto Jake’s house. It sounds like that would be so nice! :o) !! And I hope you have a grand time, your last few days there! hugs, Nicky

I hope that contractor can offer a good price, or that you can find an apartment you really like:) I agree, it is nice to visit, but there is nothing better than your own home.
