Whew!

Some time during the night, we had a power-off blip. This means Fred’s clock went off and started flashing 12:00 AND my computer started acting up again. Well, I think it is actually the monitor. It clicks on and then clicks off again. This is very annoying because I cant tell where in the booting-up process the computer is or even if it is booting up properly at all.

So, I decided to change out monitors. Fred has an old computer with a monitor so I disconnected everything from the back of the tower, lifted the heavy monitor up and deposited it in Fred’s chair which has wheels. I then wheeled it into the living room and tried to get it into the hall and then my workroom. But, alas, there was a heavy bookcase in the way and not enough space to get the chair through. However, I got my chair out of the workroom and transferred the monitor–the heavy monitor, from Fred’s chair to mine and triumphantly rolled it into my workroom all prepared to switch the monitors over.  {I may not be as strong as I was, but I am twice as ingenious! }

This was when I discovered that my monitor was on , the computer had booted up and was telling me I had no keyboard.  Now this has happened before. The solution is to turn the computer off, unplug and replug the keyboard and then turn the computer back on again. So, I did this and at the moment, all seems to be well. However, in order to be able to sit down while I did the plugging-back-in bit, I had to take Fred’s monitor off my chair. I put it on our bed. The next step when I am finished here is to put Fred’s monitor on my chair and wheel it to the dining room where Fred’s old computer is. Hmmm, I may have to change the monitor from one chair to the other. I am not sure if MY chair will get past that bookcase, either.

I am having a massage this morning. I need it!

I woke up in the middle of the night to a weird light coming from our office, and I realized it was Andy’s computer monitor. We’d had an electricity blip in the middle of the night, too. Spent all morning resetting clocks.

Where are all these massage-lovers when I need them? LOL!

I hate computer problems! We have so many power interruptions I’ve actually gotten pretty good at resetting the answering machine and the radio under the kitchen cabinet. the last time we had an interruption I was working on a long journal entry. I always use Word, and then copy and paste to OD. Thank god for auto recover!! Good luck on your tomatoes. fry some up before they ripen!
