What I Have Been Doing
I got to see the new baby next door. He and his mother were out sitting on the grass {Well, he wasn’t sitting!} and of course, I had to go out and look. He was a big baby {9 pounds} but he reminds me of my father’s description of me looking like " a skinned rabbit!" A., his mother, couldn’t remember how long he was but he seems to be very tall. And he had big hands and feet with skinny wiggly toes! It will be interesting to watch him as he gets older. His mother brought him over later in the day so that Fred could see him.
I have let the art room get cluttered again so, apart from the work I have done at K.’s house on Thursday mornings, I have done no art work at home. I had intentions to start on tidying the room today but that is all they were, intentions. Nothing got done. Still, I am not beating myself up over it. It will still be there tomorrow and I can start then. Or even the next day!
I have been on a "Battlestar Galactica" DVD marathon lately. On the whole, I really liked it although there were episodes when I thought, "What on earth…" which actually was appropriate because that was their mission, to find earth! I have found myself thinking about the characters after the series is over which means that they were interesting and well developed. Our book group are reading David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. I have read it before but found it interesting to reread. My non-group reading is Sovereign: A Matthew Shardlake Mystery by C. J. Sansom. It is a legal mystery set in the time in England when Henry VIII was king. It is a series but it is not necessary to read them in order.
"We don’t just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary." – Booker T. Washington.
"We are taught you must blame your father, your sisters, your brothers, the school, the teachers – but never blame yourself. It’s never your fault. But it’s always your fault, because if you wanted to change you’re the one who has got to change." — Katherine Hepburn
I really miss the pictures that you use to post of things. I think that’s the reason I started reading you back in “Tree Otter” days. Which reminds me, I always used to wonder where that name came from. Anyway, I’d love to see pictures of your art. I love listening to the descriptions. Well, reading about. 🙂

The baby sounds awesome. Ben was over nine pounds and now he seem tiny in comparison to other children his age. As for cleaning up, you have nothing but time to get motivated.:)

Nice to have good neighbors like that. I have to go back to Netflix for movies in the winter. I’ve rented from RedBox, but the selection isn’t great.

Sometimes, just being around a happy baby is a very good place to be.

oh my goodness….”a skinned rabbit”….. I do hope the poor little tyke’s looks improve over time! ;o) !! But seriously, newborns are usually NOT the best-looking of creatures…. except to those who love them! :o) !! Ya know, I just noticed when I read your last entry that your diary name is now “Serendipity is my Friend”! How long has it been that way? I can miss things for MONTHS sometimes! hugs, Nicky
