What I Did Today

Yesterday went very well. The adults sat around the table and talked. The children did homework—well, one did. The other one watched TV but at least he plugged the earphones in. Before that, we all went out to eat at the diner-up-the-road and Fred and I had liver. Neither of us like to cook it but we both like to eat it! I gave Fred my bacon {I just think bacon with liver is  too much} and I had French fries, onions and coleslaw. I had eaten lightly all day so I didn’t feel a bit bad about any of it. The company came over today about 12:30 pm and had brunch before they left but I was gone for my fortnightly massage.

After I got back, I went for a walk. I started off at a good pace but very quickly ran out of energy. I walked the first 10 minutes at my morning pace of 3 miles an hour. I know how fast I am going because this is timed music to walk to. Usually I do a mile and a half at this pace but I didn’t have the energy for more than a short time this afternoon. After that, I changed to the 25 Most Played playlist and walked much more slowly for the rest of the 30 minutes. I was walking for 30 minutes but didn’t cover the usual distance.

Later that afternoon we continued out Sarah Brightman DVD kick by watching the Harem disk. I had watched a bit here and there as I was on the treadmill a few monrhs ago, but this time we watched it from beginning to end. I thought at first I was going to be disappointed. The first track was very irritating because it was much too what I think of as MTV-ish. {This is NOT a compliment. I really dislike MTV} but as the tracks continued I found myself watching with more pleasure. One I had never seen before, “The End of  the War” brought tears to my eyes with both her voice, the male singer who sang with her  and the setting. Right in the middle of all this there was a live performance of “Nessun Dorma”, staged very beautifully and dramatically. This is a piece of music I have loved for years even though I am not an opera lover and even though I had seen this particular staging with Brightman  before on another DVD, now, as then, the tears came to my eyes again.

I have just finished watching my Netflix arrival–“Sharpe’s Rifles.” I have read many of the Sharpe books by Bernard Cornwell and enjoyed them but had only seen bits and pieces of the movies here and there. My sister told me how good Sean Bean was as Sharpe and she is absolutely correct. I notice that Netflix had many, if not all of them, so I will be getting more {with other movies interspersed among them so I don’t get bored with Sharpe. } Now, I am off to reorder my Netflix queue!

Oh, and for all you Bookworm addicts out there, Fred topped 8 million before getting burned out. {We have photos and eventually, he will put them up!

Until later..

now I’m hungry for liver. We have it in the freezer, but Rich gets seriously sick (nausea) from it. Soooo, maybe I’ll pull it out for lunch tomorrow 🙂

Unfortunately, I love chicken livers (don’t eat them but once a year) and I eat monkfish livers at the sushi bar. I’ve been trying to figure out what the WW points value a monkfish liver holds, but still I don’t know. Do you know? I’ve Googled it and still no real good answer. I know a WW point is fifty calories. How much fat and cholesterol do some fish livers have? Any info is appreciated.

I may have missed something–8 million what?

I think I would have kept the bacon. I love it but never buy it any more. Gunther told me the other day that he had a craving for liver but since it is high in cholesterol wouldn’t have it. Personally, I think I have eaten my life-time quota of the stuff. 🙂 Hurray for Fred! I would love to see the Bookworm pictures! I think I will ask Fred if he has any tips for us lower scoring BW addicts.

I started a new game yesterday. (low score so far) How high have you gotten, Patricia?

Gee, I should cook chicken livers tonight! I almost forget all about them. Thanks for mentioning liver. As for MTV…I don’t like it overall, but an occasional video is very good. Hope you have a lovely day! hugs, Weesprite

🙂

RYN: I thought of that too Patrisha. She won’t listen to anybody anymore. I believe her mental health is deteriorating. I realize you are close in age to her. I’m so glad that there are people like you, whom I can look to as a mentor.
