Wednesday Morning

I didn’t walk at all yesterday because of the damned bunion and I may give it another day off. This is the second time I have pushed myself up to another level in walking and my body has responded by breaking down in some way. Last time, I strained a groin muscle. This time it is the bunion. Actually, it feels much better this morning even though it still looks ugly. Fred suggested I give it another day of not walking. I may try that.

I have been complaining about sleeping until 8 or 9 o’clock because it seems to me that by the time I get my act together, half the day has gone. Well, this morning I set my alarm for 7 am and I am not thrilled with that, either! LOL Fred had to be at one of the local hospitals by 9 am for a routine colonoscopy and so we both got up at 7 am. By 8:25 he still wasn’t dressed but he eventually got going. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the hospital. We drove away from the house at 8:50! Of course, that didn’t include the getting-the-car-warmed-up time nor the scraping-frost-from-the-windows time. I actually went downstairs to the car early because I was getting so irritated by his piddling around at this and that that I felt I had to get out of there or I would say something I regretted! It was fortunate I did because I had totally forgotten that in Vermont winters, one has to allow a good 10 to 15 minutes time for warming the car and scraping off the frost! And there was a tiny bit of snow on the car too, but not enough to have to sweep it off before going anywhere. That comes later in the year.

Now I am sitting at home waiting for the phone call to come and get him in two to three hours. I thought I might start the gingerbread but think I will wait until I know the phone isn’t going to ring and I have to go out. So far I have had a couple of pieces of melba rye toast {in addition to the oatmeal I had this morning} and washed the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen. Next, I am going to tackle cleaning up the table which has newspapers {unread} from three days ago. I have decided to cancel the local paper. I have totally lost interest in it and I was the only one who read it. I get my world news fron the New York Times headlines downloaded to my mailbox every morning and if I want to know local news, I can join Fred to watch it at 5 pm on the television.

Until later…

My husband goes out and buys a paper every morning and the only thing I read is the comics and the puzzles.

I get my world news from the NY Times online and the local paper is online. My mom still has the paper delivered every day, so we have stacks of them sitting around. There’s no way she would read the paper on the internet.

We get the small, local paper which is good for school news, and reading about people we actually know. G would never read the news online, either. That drives me bonkers when the guys piddle around like that. It happens one of my son’s habits. Grrrrr

It seems the longer you sleep, the more you waste your day away. I know the feeling with the weekends. They pass to fast because I sleep in. I hope your foot feels better soon!

It seems way too early for snow and frost! In my part of Minnesota, we haven’t seen any yet, but you can sure tell it’s coming.

ryn~yep – that’s actually what I did, I went to an OA meeting rather than weight watchers. I know some people are afraid when you mention any kind of 12 step so that’s why I called it weight watchers. I’m there.

Isn’t the decline of the “local” newspaper a pity? they’re a hollow shell of what they were. Having grown up with and on the only daily paper in the county (one that narrowly missed getting a Pulitzer) I now read only the Denver Post – and I don’t even live in Colorado! The rest are not fit for the bottom of a bird cage.

RYN: My jacket is red! I was leaning towards the Mexican Rice thingie, too… 😉 I’ve never tried it before, I’ll let you know how it turns out. (Not breaking news or anything, but could be a good recipe.)

I’ve stopped reading our paper too – too much depressing news in it – if something major happens I find out soon enough!
